Talk:Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya
I'm almost afraid to ask this, and should probably be banned for doing so, but I must know...Is the name supposed to be a reference to car bomb? -- SFH 22:50, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
Yes.
Continent
[edit]How do we know that Carbombya is in Africa? I don't think it has any quality that would preclude it from being part of Asia Minor either. - Jackpot 04:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- In Thief in the Night, a cruise director said that it was the "small African nation of Carbombya". -- SFH 04:50, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, thanks. Man, what kind of a cruise needs to tell its passengers which continent they're at? - Jackpot 05:02, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
- The one wanting to make the jab at the real country even MORE obvious -- Ziyad 19:08, 14 August 2009 (EDT)
- Is it even possible to be a "Socialist Democratic Federated Republic"? How would that work? 95.148.8.146 08:14, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
- Quite possible. In fact, the United States is a "Democratic Federated Republic" and has many aspects of a socialist economy. Khajidha 10:14, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
- Pretty certain it's just a satire of all countries that give themselves "full" names like that in spite of being little more than dictatorships. --Detour 10:20, 20 April 2010 (EDT)
- True, but just pointing out the inherent possibility of the name. For some reason many people think that "Democratic" and "Socialist" are antithetical terms. Khajidha 10:22, 20 April 2010 (EDT)

Article name
[edit]Just wondering why the article is named Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbomya. Articles of countries are given the short name of the country (United Kingdom in contrast to United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland) Well, except for the Chinas. Hence, the article should be simply Carbombya, with the extended name appearing in the short description in the beginning of the article. (I realize the humor effect the long article name brings, but Article Standards get first priority.) I also remember the article being simply Carbombya at some point in the past... -- Ziyad 19:08, 14 August 2009 (EDT)
- In this case if I recall, it's due to Fakkadi's insistence on always using the full name.--RosicrucianTalk 19:21, 14 August 2009 (EDT)
- And Carbombya still redirects here for those who are looking for or linking to it. -- Dark T Zeratul 21:01, 14 August 2009 (EDT)
- Ah, so that's it! Is the fact that he's insitant on using the country's full name mentioned anywhere in the article(s) though? -- Ziyad 18:03, 15 August 2009 (EDT)
