"This lacks any official name or designation" but like it calls him Megascream like halfway down the page --ItsWalky (talk) 00:12, 24 September 2018 (EDT)

I'm not quite sure how to classify Deviations in that regard. "Megascream" is the new name Starscream himself takes on, with no supplementary designated name for his Combiner form. It's like if Unite Warriors Convoy Grand Prime was just called "Convoy" to reflect that it doesn't have an independent consciousness. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 00:28, 24 September 2018 (EDT)
Maybe if we retool the intro a bit to talk about how Starscream's a combiner sometimes and some iterations are called Megascream and others don't have a proper name. Then add a notes section where we explain how Megascream and the POTP combiner are just two separate executions of the concept of Starscream as a combiner and that while one isn't strictly a toy of the other, we're keeping them on the same page for reader convenience because it's the best way to present the information. (And maybe put a mention somewhere of the bit in the Machinma combiner wars cartoon where starscream combines with combiners or whatever it was that happened, idk).
TL;DR: I think we should keep them on the same page while also pointing that they're separate but related things, and also make it explicitly clear that the POTP toy is not named Megascream. -Foffy (talk) 04:07, 24 September 2018 (EDT)
I think the page is mostly fine as=is, though it could probably stand to clarify a bit that Megascream is the new name Starscream takes on after getting upgraded by Unicron and not the name of the combiner. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 04:30, 24 September 2018 (EDT)

Gonna be honest, I think having Megascream and the Combiner Wars...thing on here is a mistake. Escargon (talk) 15:03, 11 April 2021 (EDT)

Starscream combiners is the same, imo, but maybe more people feel otherwise...?—The Wadapan (talk) 19:32, 11 April 2021 (EDT)

Move proposal to "Ultimate Starscream"

[edit]

This page was originally created with the belief that the POTP Starscream combiner had its own identity like Optimus Maximus and Sky Reign, but a re-inspection of the POTP material makes it clear that Starscream is the dominant force in his hunger for power - much like the previously existing Combiner Wars cartoon, which is in the same sub-continuity family and features a Starscream combiner who's largely just more him. I'd also like to draw attention to the fact that the POTP toy was *surely* in development at the same time as the web series, and was possibly a tie-in. See the live intro for how much it gels together.

I think therefore that while Ultimate Starscream is not actually a confirmed *name* it *is* an official descriptor that merits a noname-designation tag (which should trump a noname-nickname situation).

Pre-empting a possible counterproposal: I also don't think it's worth merging into Starscream's main article, despite the effective confirmation that it's the same identity all the way through, because of the fact that his control over others *can* break in this state.

I'd appreciate feedback on this, thanks! I have been enjoying becoming the preeminent expert on original PWT combiners but need to make sure I'm not going off half-cocked on things like this. Sky Shadow (talk) 11:51, 30 June 2025 (EDT)

Sorry, I think the current page name is fine. Ultimate Starscream from the Combiner Wars cartoon is developmentally unrelated to the Power of the Primes toy. Megascream is completely unrelated. "Starscream Combiner" covers all of these cases succinctly. Personally I could see an argument to merge them all into Starscream's page, but it's convenient to have a page just for this broad concept. —wadapan (talk) 12:01, 30 June 2025 (EDT)
Generally reasonable, but just to clarify - I'm thinking in terms of "the giant Starscream combiner showed up in the show because John Warden possibly talked about a Starscream combiner in a development meeting", not "the giant Starscream combiner resulted in the development of the POTP product" Sky Shadow (talk) 12:37, 30 June 2025 (EDT)
Agreed with Wada, sorry. --Broadside (talk) 19:35, 2 July 2025 (EDT)
Just realised a proper developmental connection. Fun Pub straight up told us there *was* a Combiner Wars Starscream torso developed - it was just only released as Galvatronus. And Power of the Primes Inferno was reused CW tooling, per the same source (Randy running his insider knowledge mouth on the long-lost Allspark thread history). If Warden and gang showed that concept to the Game of Thrones go90 show team, and then PoTP Starscream was a second pass on the same core concept from the toy design angle knowing that a Starscream Combiner was in the show... Is this something? Is it too tenuous? There's certainly the *possibility* of a developmentally connected thread here, though I don't know how willing others would be to chase it alongside me Sky Shadow (talk) 08:04, 16 July 2025 (EDT)
Bluntly I think "Ultimate Starscream" isn't really any more of a name than "Starscream Combiner", and it's better to keep the page at the one that actually describes what it is rather than "moniker that's been applied to one version of the concept solely in BTS material", regardless of where the idea for that version came from. --Broadside (talk) 08:30, 16 July 2025 (EDT)
