Named/Numbered Sweeps
[edit]The multiple Sweeps in "FFoD pt3" are identified in the dialogue script as "Doomed Sweep" (the one who dies), Sweep 2 ("This is blowing out my audio sensors!") and Sweep 3 ("It's torture").
Sweeps Six and Seven were identified in dialogue(!) as being part of the assault on the moon in the opening of "Call of the Primitives". (In fact, according to the dialogue script, Sweep Six is the one saying the voice calling the Primitives is coming from space - which seems to tacitly lump him in with the other Primitives. Very odd.)
Sweep #1 is listed in the dialogue script for "Ghost in the Machine" ("What's the matter? You got lead in your feet?" and "Why would he do that? He's our leader!"), as is Sweep #2 ("Let's melt him anyway").
Sweep #1 is listed again in "The Burden Hardest to Bear" ("Uh oh! It's all over! Beat feet!").
Sweep #1 is listed again again in "The Dweller in the Depths", where he seems to get the most screen-time ("What are they?" in response to the Trans-organics, an angry scream as he's attacked by the bear-trap creature, and "Where?!" in response to Cyclonus saying there's something in the Dweller chamber with them just before he's sucked dry by it). Sweep #2 is the second Sweep grabbed and drained, and Sweep #3 is the one thrown at the life-drained hordes ("Galvatron, no! I beg you").
Sweep #2 is listed in "Webworld" ("For the glory of Galvatron!" - think he's also the one Sludge calls dumb, and he's also the one who responds to Cyclonus with "As he helped US, Cyclonus?"). Sweep #4 also appears ("I'll help you, mighty Galvatron!"), as does Sweep #1 ("The planet's going crazy").
I don't know how much of this could justifiably be used to fill out individual Sweep character articles, as most of it is common sense character identification within a given episode - eg, just saying which is the first Sweep talking, the second Sweep talking, etc. There's very low odds that Sweep #1 was meant to be the same Sweep in each instance. But, on the other hand, Sweeps 6 and 7 WERE called out in on-screen dialogue, so the numeric approach the fanclub took had clear precedent... which could make 1, 3 and 4 viable for articles. --Monzo 05:25, 7 June 2009 (EDT)
- Hhhhmmmmn... like you say, it is pretty clearly just an internal numbering system used by the scripts, rather than an indicator of the characters being the same... Oh, oh, you know what we should do? We should look over the episodes, and find out who provided the voices of the numbered Sweeps in each episode. If the same guy voiced Sweep #1 every time, hell yeah, that's the same Sweep! :D - Chris McFeely 09:34, 7 June 2009 (EDT)
- The following sentence was just added to the article: "Later, Sweeps Six and Seven participated in an attack on several Autobots.Dark Awakening" This contradicts the later sentences: During a battle with the Autobots on the moon, "Sweeps Six and Seven" made an attack run on the enemy position. This is the only known occasion when the Sweeps received any form of individual identification. Call of the Primitives. I can't check my DVDs until tonight, so if anyone else can give this a look go ahead. --Khajidha 10:02, 5 May 2011 (EDT)
- I cut it, they weren't called out by name and the Sweep 6 and Sweep 7 pages didn't mention it so it doesn't seem to be an official retcon. I guess I should sit down and watch Dark Awakening again and describe what the Sweeps do in it. Also a few other episodes with no story listing. --Khajidha 16:29, 6 May 2011 (EDT)

Numbering of Sweeps
[edit]This has been banging around in the back of my mind for some time now, basically since BotCon gave us figures of Sweeps 2, 6 and 7. Is there a "Sweep 1" or would this simply be another term for Scourge? --Khajidha 21:16, 14 May 2013 (EDT)
- The discussion above leads me to believe that there is a "Sweep One" (and Three, Four...). Mimi 23:03, 14 May 2013 (EDT)
- I don't think Scourge has ever been called a Sweep anywhere. I would assume he is not Sweep One. -LV 16:32, 15 May 2013 (EDT)
Images
[edit]Do we still need more images? If so, could it be specified which sections need them? The Sunbow cartoon seems to have plenty, so there's no need for people to add more from there. --Khajidha (talk) 17:07, 8 November 2021 (EST)
What is a Sweep toy?
[edit]So I'm looking at this page as well as the six individual numbered Sweep pages and I'm wondering how can we more consistently decide which toys are listed on which Sweeps' pages? I can understand the BotCon ones only appearing on Sweeps Two, Six, and Seven, but if the Platinum Edition Sweep was designed to be a Sweep as seen in the movie, why is that toy only listed on this page and not any of the individual ones? The Studio Series toy is also designed to be a Sweep as seen in the movie, and that appears on all of their pages... but only in a "{{see}}" form, while the Legends Sweeps get the entire entry copypasted! So I guess I'm asking, how do we decide which toys are which Sweeps, and how then do we cover that on their individual pages (if at all)? (Transclusion.......?) TheLastGherkin (talk) 07:55, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
- Almost certainly Platinum isn't on the pages because whoever added them forgot (or never knew) there are individual pages for numbered Sweeps, which is, frankly, very understandable. Honestly, I'd like to hear arguments as to why we should keep individual pages instead of lumping them all together under the main Sweeps page. I can't imagine there's remotely enough unique material per page to justify it. --M Sipher (talk) 08:00, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
- I don't know jack shit about the Legends guys but the BotCon guys all have individual personalities (in so far as they can) from their BotCon tech specs. Escargon (talk) 08:12, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
- Personally I reckon they should only have the BotCon toys on their pages with a "See: Sweeps (G1)#Toys" otherwise. --Riptide (talk) 10:19, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
- I agree. Individual Sweep pages should list only the toys associated with those individual Sweeps. NOT Platinum, NOT SS86. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 10:22, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
- All of them have established individual personalities and should retain their own pages. But the toys sections should probably just be "See: Sweep (G1)#Toys", if only because maintaining consistency across seven pages is ridiculous. Saix (talk) 10:42, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
- Transclusion means that your last point is irrelevant. I'm just after a consensus on which toys each page would share.TheLastGherkin (talk) 16:50, 22 June 2023 (EDT)
