Talk:The Transformers (Chinese toyline)

I think I hate this article's title. It sort of implies the existence of something called "Generation 1 China," and I don't think we oughta be doing that. --KilMichaelMcC 03:59, 4 November 2009 (EST)

"Generation 1 (Chinese toyline)" would be better, I think. It's the same problem with Generation 1 Europe (toyline). —Interrobang 11:35, 4 November 2009 (EST)
Why not make both these subpages of The Transformers (toyline)? Kind of like how Optimus Prime (G1) is handled? Khajidha 11:51, 4 November 2009 (EST)
The subpages idea sounds nice to me. --TX55TALK 07:44, 18 November 2009 (EST)
To spell it out a little more, I propose making a main page giving general information on G1 toys with a suite of subpages for each major market (US, Europe, China, Latin America, Australasia). The only one that really might cause a problem is Japan. Khajidha 20:50, 29 November 2009 (EST)
Moved page to a slight variant of the proposed name. Related questions - 1) do the links to this page need to be changed or will a bot do it? 2) why is this page not part of the G1 franchise nav box? Khajidha 08:39, 26 March 2010 (EDT)
I've mocked up a central page for the Japanese mini-franchises at my sandbox. It would serve as a main page to place in the franchise nav-box. I'd like to hear any input. Khajidha 21:15, 4 April 2010 (EDT)(link to sandbox removed as change has been implemented)

Availability in the UK and Australia?

[edit]

Around the time of Euro Classics, some other early G1 toys such as the Constructicons or Blaster were available in the UK and Australia in their original G1 (non-Classics) packaging. I think I read somewhere that they came from the same production run as the Chinese toys, just without the sticker.--Nevermore 12:29, 8 January 2011 (EST)

Do we need this page?

[edit]

So, the G1 toyline page I'm reworking the hell out of, if becoming more a central hub deal. The US line is presented in detail, but the other markets get a short paragraph or two, linking out to the more in-detail pages with their release lists for space concerns.
But... when people come to this page, there's nothing here that couldn't be adequately covered on the main in maybe half the space. The Chinese line's noteworthiness is in its lateness and its being very small, and being "pretty much exactly what came out in other countries save some minor packaging small print". But somehow, THIS gets called and put in the suite template, where there's jack shit about the Mexican and South American G1 lines with all their weird variants and whatnot.
I'm struggling for a reason to keep this. The amount of information can be easily reduced to half a screen and plugged into the main hub article. We have the external links to the actual list of toys if anyone is really keen to know about these. --M Sipher (talk) 13:52, 17 November 2016 (EST)

I added this page to the suite because I was imagining a separate page for every major market going into the details specific to that market's toyline. I did not add a Latin American page because I did not know enough about it. Apparently no one has felt up to the task of cataloging the "weird variants and whatnot" since then either. A shame really, as that would be a very interesting article.--Khajidha (talk) 15:30, 17 November 2016 (EST)
