Talk:Thundercracker (Armada)

I'm going under the assumption here that Armada and Cybertron Thundercracker are the same being. I know this hasn't always been the case with names/identities throughout the Unicron Trilogy, but without any real REASON to assume they're seperate characters I'm going to go with the logical assumption that they're the same character 10+ years appart.

Their Tech-spec #s kind of support this: Things "body based" change between the two, but Intelligence, Rank, and Skill, the three #s that would likely continue for a character between different bodies, all remain the same. ZacWilliam 23:36, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Thundercracker's MTMTE entry pretty decisively differentiates him from the character as seen in the Cybertron cartoon, but the original Armada tech specs are very harmonic with the Cybertron version. It isn't as though comic/cartoon versions of characters haven't differed before. I agree with your conclusion.

I'm going to say it here for the first time I'll say it! Of course The tech specs are the same! The Tech Specs for Cybertron characters clearly follow the same narrative and with the same narrative continuity as the Tech Specs for Armada and Energon because clearly as far as toymaking and American Tech Spec writing are concerned, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron make up a Trilogy.

That doesn't confirm any links between the Cybertron and Armada cartoons.

As it is, watching the Cybertron cartoon for the first time I was stuck wondering why earth looked the way it did and why human-Autobot relations were the way there were in that cartoon considering what happened in Armada and Energon. Judging from those factors and how the characters talked I really never ever got the impression that it was the same continuity, and later on, after I stopped watching, it's pretty clear to me that the continuity link-up to put Cybertron into a trilogy with its animated predecessors is retroactive and not very much planned ahead of time!

The toys' Tech Specs should all be harmonic; differences between the toys' personality descriptions and those found in the fiction are not uncommon any more than the discrepancies between the fictions. If we're talking in general than yes the characters are obviously and intentionally the same. Its all Takara's fault. They (and Gonzo) changed Galaxy Force to a new continuity... before changing it back to being part of the trilogy. And people wonder why they merged with an arch-rival. --FFN 21:56, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

See, Hasbro was all like- "Dude, trilogy. seriously."

And Takara was all like- "Noo! Supelrink-- so bad! So vely vely bad!"

And Gonzo was like- Okay, don't worry. We'll just write the cartoon so you can make it a standalone or the third part of a trilogy depending on how you dub it!

And Gonzo's writers were like- "Seriously? We have to watch those shows?"

And Gonzo was like- "Pfft. No. We already 'have the gaijun's money."

Meanwhile Aaron Archer was all- "Sweet, trilogy! Writey-writey, character bios in the post!"

And Gonzo was all- "Sweet! The Americans send us something to line the bottom of our hamster cages with!"

And the Dub company gets the episode and they're all- "Wait... this is clearly their first tiem on Earth... Oh well, it's a good thing we're the lowest bidder and arent' actually expected to rewrite the episodes to make sense like Saban did for RiD!"

And Gonzo was like- "Whoo! Drunken filthy with filthy American dollars!"

And Aaron Archer was all- "NOOO! JAPAN HAS SCREWED US AGAIN!"

And Derik was all- "Wow, didn't see that coming."

And Aaron Archer flew over to Japan and started stomping on people's genitals until he re-instilled fear of America in the entire country. "FIX MY GODDAMN CARTOON AND PRODUCE THE SHOW YOU AGREED TO."

And Gonzo was all- "Chill, chill... we fix, we fix..."

And then the 'fix' consisted of putting a picture montage at the end of the final episode linking it to Armada and Energon, which was left in in Japan even though Galaxy Force was supposed to be a standalone.

And Aaron Archer threw a hissy fit, decapitated several interns and drank their blood at a corporate board meeting to express his rage.

And Hasbro was all- "Dude. We are never co-producing with Japan again."

Although the part about the bit in the final episode linking to Armada and Energon being in the Japanese version is wrong. That was only there in Cybertron. Also, lowest bidders or not, Cybertron's dub was great. --KilMichaelMcC 03:45, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

personality switch

in one episode of transformers cybertron thundercracker follows jet fire to the autobots (fake) base and when jet fire is inside thundercracker says "STARSCREAM transform" in starscreams voice, he then calls for a cyber key power still using starcreams voice and blows up the autobots (fake) base and says something in starscreams voice AGAIN and flys off AND he was behaving as if he had starscreams PERSONALITY aswell! 80.42.88.231 10:01, 13 October 2007 (UTC)

I have a question.

Should I add something that says the toy can snap in half if you're not careful with it onto the Cybertron Deluxe Thundercracker toy bio? Mainpic

I know we have the "first body" rule, but surely an appearance in the cartoon trumps a toyline-only nobody whose best-known appearance is as a different character entirely? In the same sense as Lockdown (ROTF), Hound (Movie) and Hot Shot (Prime), I really think that the mainpic here should be Cybertron Thundercracker. --Riptide (talk) 14:49, 17 December 2022 (EST)

Given that Armada Thundercracker only exists via two name-drops and one cancelled Dreamwave cameo I'm in favor of a Cybertron main pic, since it's by far his only real fiction appearance. MrRald (talk) 14:54, 17 December 2022 (EST)

Actually, on a related note, I'm not a fan of how this opening paragraph presents an invented narrative of "first Thundercracker was the Armada bio, but at some point over ten years he became his Cybertron personality", but I'm not sure how best to fix that. --Riptide (talk) 17:09, 17 December 2022 (EST)

I was literally about to raise this exact same point, that the "main pic" should be the Cybertron Thundercracker, cuz even tho he had a toy in Armada, he was only mentioned and never actually appeared in the cartoon (I guess Thundercracker was Starscream in Japan, but that doesn't count for this article). And it seems all u guys are on the same page as me and agreed 2 years ago, but just never did it. So unless anyone's changed their mind in the meanwhile, I'm gonna go ahead and replace the pic if that's ok with everyone. Freakertron (talk) 16:10, 18 November 2024 (EST)
