Talk:Tidal Wave (Armada)

Is the (UT) tag here really necessary, or does that go on 'every' ArmadagonTron-exclusive character? >.> Onslaught Six 07:42, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

These tags go on EVERY Transformer. In preparation for future name re-use. --M Sipher 07:47, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

"The Takara and Hasbro versions are considerably different, even through they only have a single difference. The Takara version uses purple plastic in the place of Hasbro's green. While this makes the Takara version somewhat more like the show portrayal, the color layouts are still off." Uh this is really wrong, Shockwave has darker greys, and different paint Apps(mainly on the "elevator" and legs.)

Agreed, that text was pretty off. Fixed. --ItsWalky 20:58, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

Tidal Wave

[edit]

Tidal Wave is an awsome Transformer, if his brain wasn't all messed up he'd make the perfect Decepticon leader. If they ever make a second Transformer movie, the should put Tidal Wave in it.

Classics

[edit]

Don't we need a Disambiguation now that the name has been reused on Bugbites waverunner? 85.195.123.25 06:17, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Megatron combination

[edit]

Umm, I didn't watch all of Armada, but I seem to remember Tidal Wave being capable of combining with Megatron (to form a really, really bulky, unweildy version of Megatron). TFU definitely has pictures of the toys doing it... but there's no mention made of it in the article. 88.111.160.234 15:57, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Fixed it, among other things. --FFN 16:31, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

The Toy of "Shockwave"

[edit]

It seems that Takara replaced the green color with purple, which is HIS main color. -- TX55 10:36, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

According to Aaron Archer back during the Orson's World days, the reason why their colours were so different was that the 'Shockwave' colour scheme was needed by the Takara and the animators, so Hasbro made a really quick colour scheme for them to use. --FFN 15:26, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
That being said...despite how different it is, the Takara toy really doesn't look very much like the show model either. -LV 16:11, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, the cartoon appearance is much darker. Wonder who at Hasbro did this cartoon colour scheme. --FFN 16:40, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Starships

[edit]

I assume the cat ref's Tidal Wave flying in space in Energon, and in his original appearance, and the fact he has a crew (at least that's the backstory of the 3 oceangoing mini-cons.) I'm not sure if that qualifies him for the category though. -Derik 05:36, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Gamewise, TW is only ever a seafaring ship. Cartoon-wise, he does fly through space, but so do others, and TW having a "crew" is pretty questionable. --M Sipher 07:31, 10 January 2008 (UTC)

Gay For Galvy

[edit]

Do we have anything else we can put in place of "If gets a little puppet called Mister Hat we quit."?--Skyglide 23:07, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

How about "Pretty Soldier Sailor Tidalwave" - Semysane 00:55, 8 June 2008 (UTC)
thats brilliant.--Skyglide 03:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Energon Tidal Wave

[edit]

In the stock photo the wings on his legs are reversed from those on the Armada version. TFU info's pictures show them in the same orientation as the Armada toy. I don't have the Energon toy to look at, so I can't confirm one either version. Does anyone know which way the actual toy was assembled? Khajidha 00:54, 20 March 2010 (EDT)

Can Mirage get his own page?

[edit]

Can Mirage get a separate page like Roadblock? It seems that in the toy bio micro continuity Mirage is a different character as Tidal Wave, since his bio mentions Tidal Wave as a separate character. - Starfield 23:38, 20 May 2010 (EDT)

Electronics

[edit]

-I recall that in the catalog that came with the mini-comic, Energon TW was advertized as having "electronic lights and sounds". Whatever happened to those?--Megatron Prime 13:10, 27 July 2010 (EDT)

As I recall, the original Armada Tidal Wave's packaging also falsely claimed he had electronics. I presume it's a carry-over from that... though I can't find an image of TW in his original packaging online handily to confirm my memories, just the "Unicron Battles" refresh... - Chris McFeely 14:20, 27 July 2010 (EDT)
Here's the European version of the original packaging. No electronics mentioned.--Nevermore 19:52, 9 December 2011 (EST)

Used as transport?

[edit]

Was Tidal Wave ever used as transport for the Transformers in any media? —Interrobang 18:30, 23 November 2010 (EST)

Dark Fleet

[edit]

I recall the name "Dark Fleet" being kicked around a lot before the toy was released. Was that an early working name for his three alt mode components?--Nevermore 07:07, 9 December 2011 (EST)

Not just a working name, it was actually used on the packaging in that sense. --Khajidha 07:32, 9 December 2011 (EST)
Then why don't I find the term anywhere in the article?--Nevermore 19:35, 9 December 2011 (EST)
Don't know, but you can see it for yourself in the picture of the back of the box here: http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Energon-TIDAL-Battleship-Figure/dp/B000YK7Q26 While this is the Energon release, I can testify that it was also on the Armada box as that is the version I own (box may be in storage or may have been discarded, not sure). --Khajidha 19:50, 9 December 2011 (EST)
I already verified that the term is used on the packaging for all versions of the toy. Which means the article is missing something.--Nevermore 19:53, 9 December 2011 (EST)
Yer keyboard broken or somethin'? /:) - Chris McFeely 20:19, 9 December 2011 (EST)

Titans Return toy

[edit]

I know who Titans Return Tidal Wave is plainly supposed to be, but why aren't we following the precedent of Henkei "Hot Rod" and putting the toy on the G1 page? Titans Return Tidal Wave even features in the short fiction blurb which needs to get written up on the wiki. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 22:51, 22 July 2017 (EDT)

....yeah, I don't think that box set is an intercontinuity one. This needs to be listed on the G1 iteration's page. --ItsWalky (talk) 23:51, 22 July 2017 (EDT)
