Talk:Toei Animation
Okay, this is messed up. I can't edit this page because of the spam filters. They're being set off by external links that were added prior to my editing the page.--Rosicrucian 21:38, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Toei has a Filipino branch?!?
[edit]Link And they also cite Transformers as part of their resume? But didn't start until 1986? The HELL?--Nevermore 22:37, 6 October 2007 (UTC)
How Toei gets along with Funimation
[edit]I know this is'nt Transformers related. But the mystery of how they gets along with them so well regarding their Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and Toriko licenses was because the founder's uncle was a Producer for Dragon Ball.

- If you have a citable source for that, we can add it to the article. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 19:33, 3 October 2014 (EDT)
Long, long list
[edit]" In terms of anime, they are known for animating shows such as Devilman, Sailor Moon, Golion (aka Voltron), Mazinger Z (akaTranzor Z), Getter Robo, Steel Jeeg, Grendizer, Daiku Maryu Gaiking, the Dragon Ball franchise, One Piece, Digimon, Toriko, Fist of the North Star, Kinnikuman, Zatch Bell, BoBoBo-Bo Bo-BoBo, Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers and many, many more." Do we really need such a long list of Toei shows? I would think the and "many, many more" would be enough to get the point across without listing their entire catalog of titles. I would cut it down myself, but I am sure I would piss someone off by removing their all time favoritest show. Does anyone else wish to weigh in on the question or cut the text themselves? --Khajidha (talk) 12:37, 16 March 2015 (EDT) P.S. The American list is equally ridiculously long.
- Yeah, I'll trim it since I've made the most edits to this page. It was never meant to be that long, but as with voice actor articles, people come along and keep inserting their favorite shows until the opening paragraph winds up a bloated mess; like IMDB in paragraph form. --DrSpengler (talk) 14:00, 16 March 2015 (EDT)
Toei vs YouTube and copyright claims
[edit]This is likely out of our scope on the wiki, but I was wondering if we should mention the on-going issue that went down on YouTube somewhat recently with an anime reviewer being targeted by Toei with multiple copyright claims?
Toei tried to not only claim several of his videos (as big companies tend to do, even when it's considered fair use), but when confronting YouTube and not getting the results they wanted, they started using some of their own resources to bypass YouTube's rules, which has led to more issues between YouTube and Toei. At the time of this post, YouTube has decided to make all of his videos banned in Japan and we are yet to see if Toei will take this further.
I know we don't really cover this sort of thing, but it does kinda put "The trouble with Toei" into further perspective, knowing that they'll go to such extreme lengths, just to stop someone from using something as small as a few clips in their videos. I don't bring this up to be added to the article as "shit stirring", I bring this up more as adding "additional context" to how difficult they really can be, even outside of the realm of distribution rights.
If it's decided that it'd be best left out of the article, that's fine, but I do recommend watching the linked video if you haven't seen it already. I've never watched the YouTuber before, but I've heard a bit about this story getting around. -- Fanofcoolstuff27 (talk) 02:46, 30 January 2022 (EST)
- I'm not sure it's relevant to mention the full details, given it's not really Transformer related. Maybe just a little note on the end saying "This attitude towards foreign fans is still prevalent"? AkibaSilver (talk) 11:04, 30 January 2022 (EST)
