- Great! Now all we need is for someone to write the synopsis for Ghosts of Yesterday and we should be set when it comes to the books. Now where did I put that one?--AWT88 20:45, 27 April 2009 (EDT)
LOL ok thanks guys I always wanted to help out with something. I read Ghosts of Yesterday too but it was a while back (BotCon 07, got it for $5 from some dude) I can remember most of it. if you want after I'm done with this Article I'll do Ghost of Yesterday. Godziboy1993 22:13, 27 April 2009 (EDT)
- So is this thing worth getting? I have to import this from the States or something since no local book shops sell it here :( --FFN 16:55, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
- It's hard to say thus far (I['m just begining it,) but I'm hoping that this is in IDW continuity-- the IDW ROTF Prequel comic setting up the arrival of all of those Decepticons only to kill them all again in a 3 page monthage makes very little sense otherwise.
- As of chapter 4, Salvage is a "new arrival," which would fit with Alliance fairly neatly. We'll see if that holds up as the book goes on. -Derik 17:17, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
- Milne told me they just ran out of space in Alliance issue 4, which is why the new toy-only Decepticon dudes died in single panel deaths, and why Reverb and Gunbarrel weren't even seen at all. Foster said he took the Reign of Starscream into account when writing this (Alliance wasn't out at the time). I'm not sure if the revisions the publisher asked him to do were in relation to Alliance. --FFN 17:38, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
- Foster got interviewed about the book? Where? -Derik 19:16, 28 April 2009 (EDT)
- He wasn't. Mentioned them on his blog (Nov and Dec 2008). --FFN 01:27, 29 April 2009 (EDT)

On page 267, Starscream explicitly remembers events from Reign of Starscream. (The timeframe is a bit wonky-- it has to be before Alliance #4, but Bumblebee is already gone... otoh in Alliance #3 he seems out-of-step with the NEST team, so he might've spent some time with Sam before joining the others on Diego Garcia.) -Derik 12:56, 30 April 2009 (EDT)
- Any major contradictions so far? I'd understand small ones since Foster and IDW didn't work together or anything. --FFN 15:58, 30 April 2009 (EDT)
- Nope. Swindle and Deadend are even workign together, just like in alliance.
- Several of the new guys appear to correlate with pre-existing movie characters... but got new names. (Probably because they were also appearing in Alliance and he didn't want to step on anyone's toes-- they're working with Starscream's faction in Alliance but serving a separate agenda in TVT.) As far as "active contradictions" go, I think Bumblebee's absence is the closest thing... there's some odd bits, like we're told that other "recent arrivals" are just offstage at one point towards the end, which is probably intended to accomodate the new arrivals in Alliance #4... but Dead End should be dead by the point they show up. The original prequel comics had worse timeline problems internal to themselves.
- Like I said, some order-of-events don't quite fit if you look closely- but Foster is clearly TRYING to. -Derik 16:18, 30 April 2009 (EDT)
- Oh-- and of course there's the total absence of Longarm & co. from N.E.S.T. in Alliance... but Alliance kept such a narrow focus, it's hard to call that a contradiction-- especially since they could just be on a mission. (The Autobots spend most of the book splitting up on missions anyway.) That's the sorta "usual" discontinuity you'd expect from mysteriously off-screen characters though. -Derik 16:49, 30 April 2009 (EDT)
- Except for Deadend and Swindle being alive, I think the whole novel could take place on pages 18–19 of Alliance 4, where Alliance rushes through a summary of "we spent some time fighting Decepticons." - Starfield 20:21, 17 June 2009 (EDT)

Currently working on the synopsis. good thing I took notes while reading the book. Busy with school but it should be up later this week. I'll get started on the Ghosts of Yesterday synopsis afterwords Godziboy1993 18:23, 6 May 2009 (EDT)
Um, apparently someone posted a synopsis already. Wonderful. I was just finishing it up...Godziboy1993 15:47, 12 May 2009 (EDT)
- For future reference, there is a {{inprogress}} template you can throw up for a short time if you are planning major changes. It puts a banner up like this:

Constructicons?
[edit]Would you say Kickback, Trample, & Tread are Constructicons, or just construction-vehicle Decepticons? - Starfield 18:11, 13 May 2009 (EDT)
A dark shape.
[edit]Forgive my confusion. If that is Ravage, it is a continuity error at least with the comic. Ravage made planetfall after the Shanghai incident. - Starfield 20:39, 28 May 2009 (EDT)
- I'm still not convinced. Did Ravage meteor to Earth twice? - Starfield 13:59, 23 June 2009 (EDT)
Deadend
[edit]Is there any evidence (other than him hanging around with Swindle) in the book that the Deadend who appears is the not-Jolt from Alliance, rather than the ROTF toyline character? I ask because if it were the ROTF one, there'd be no contradiction with Dead End's death in Alliance, and after all, ROTF Dead End's Scout toy was in the same wave as Knock Out, who also appears in the book. Admittedly Deadend isn't a creepy vampire-Con in TVT, but then it wouldn't be the first time fiction has ignored package bios (the AllSpark mutation movie characters come to mind). Jalaguy
