Timelines a franchise?

[edit]

Is "franchise" the right word for this? Should we set up the whole usual schtick for a full-blown franchise? (Franchise page, comics page, toyline page, etc.)

I'm asking not only 'cause I'm anal about this stuff, but also 'cause it remains difficult to find your way around some of the convention- and club-based pages. -- Repowers 17:38, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

Practically every story under a Timelines banner belongs to a different franchise/continuity from the next, so any "franchise" page should identify just where said Timelines events are supposed to be taking place. (This is going to be a problem with Descent Into Evil and, to a lesser extent, Razor's Edge, because those take place in a wherewhen we don't have have an actual name for.) I suspect a single page to handle all of the aspects of Timelines is probably sufficient, since many of the individual stories will presumably appear in their relevant franchises as well. -LV 18:14, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
So should mentions of it be italicized, put in quotes, or left as-is?--Apcog 04:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

Order of Publication

[edit]

GAH. Okay, so, waitaminute. Before I screw this up any more...

The order of publication should be -- and please correct me if I've got this wrong, 'cause I keep missing things:

Descent into Evil
Intimidation Game
Dawn of Future's Past
Dark Heart of Sandokan (Feb. 07)
Games of Deception (BC 07 - end of June 07)
Theft of the Golden Disk (BC 07)
The Razor's Edge (July 07)
The New World (end of July 07)
Finale Part II (Nov 07)
Cheap Shots

As I've noted elsewhere, I think we ought to stick to the order of publication for the navigation box sequence, much as we do for the UK comics and, well, pretty much everything else. Note boxes at the beginning and end of text summaries can then link chronologically related stories together. -- Repowers 16:27, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

...Augh! Finale II is *also* under the Timelines banner! But Finale I isn't. Man, this whole thing is screwy. -- Repowers 23:17, 17 January 2008 (UTC)

Those comic preview thingies

[edit]

I don't have the issues with the comic previews of the text stories (Withered Hope, Dark Heart, etc), and since those aren't covered anywhere on this wiki (except for the one with its own name), I'd love to see synopses added to those stories' pages. In lieu of that, is there a stub template that has the ability to specify what's missing, like the image template can? Thanks for any info on this. -Crockalley 17:06, 30 October 2009 (EDT)

As I said in my revert edits, they are actually small snippets of the existing story in comic book form. They aren't "prologues." I, Lowtech's is about Bulletbike killing a dude while he sees himself on the news. Withered Hope's is about Small Foot approaching Crystal Widow's hotel. They don't really provide any new information other than art. --ItsWalky 17:10, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
Don't we usually put up pages for 'adaptations' of existing stories in new mediums? We did it for the comic adaptation of The Big Broadcast of 2006 and of course all of the various movie novelizations and comic adaptations. How exactly is this different?--Jimsorenson 17:13, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
It's not an adaptation. An "adaptation" suggests that things are being changed or altered to suit the new medium. These are just preview stories, ones that fit seamlessly (and are mostly superceded by) the full text version. --ItsWalky 17:18, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
The stuff that happens in the image on Night_Beat_7's page isn't in the Withered Hope text story. The main image for I, Lowtech doesn't happen in that story. Since when did this wiki not like covering minutia? It may be close to or contradicted by the text stories, but it's new info. -Crockalley 17:25, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
I asked on the Dungeons & Dinobots page how exactly we should write up previews (Separate page? Tacked onto the actual story? Regular text or italics? Etc.), since the preview for that story definitely is new material not in the actual story, but never got a response. I'd be willing to write up that preview and the I, Lowtech one, if I knew where to put them. Superseded or not, as Crockalley said, we've never been shy about cataloging even tiny details. *shrug* --Jeysie 18:23, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
The I, Lowtech one seems to go after his visit to the Swindle store. Bulletbike is next seen hiding his latest victim, which in the story is described as a blue car, and the image on top of the I, Lowtech article says it's G1 Skids. That seems to line up to the memory gap right after the Swindles. -Crockalley 18:32, 30 October 2009 (EDT)
[edit]

In an attempt to finish sticking some of the fiction here in its right "reading order" in the comic navs, there's a few things I was curious about:

  • Where does Transcendent fit in the TransTech order? Before or after I, Lowtech?
  • Ditto for Reunification, does it come after Blitzwing Bop?
  • What's the overall reading order for the Classics fiction?

Revengence: Animated?

[edit]

I don't remember anything saying an Animated character was in there? Was there one? Who was it? 15:29, 8 July 2014 (EDT)
