Talk:Transformers brand
We had more than one long debate about the merits of including long lists of transformers references in other media and the overwhelming consensus was that we did NOT want this sort of content. As the page was structured, it was just begging for a long, boring list of everywhere Transformers pokes up. The Stub treatment as well as the double-indented bullets were a disaster waiting to happen. I've attempted to reduce it to something manageable that covers the recognition of the brand in the wider world WITHOUT begging for a list. I'm not sure I succeeded though. - The current contents (id=362272) is good. it's much better for the reader to view and let them know the examples of Transformers guest appearance in other media. :D --TX55TALK 12:25, 8 September 2009 (EDT)
- Dumb question ... how do I know what the ID number of a version of the page is? --Jimsorenson 12:29, 8 September 2009 (EDT)
- Click on "History" and one of the older revisions. The ID number is at the end of the URL. -Mazenoise 12:35, 8 September 2009 (EDT)
- Ah, ok, not so dumb then. I was looking all over the page but didn't think to look in the URL. Thanks.--Jimsorenson 12:39, 8 September 2009 (EDT)

Transformers brand/Branding
[edit]I just stuck a {{disambig2}} to this page on Branding, which I think is clear-cut.
What I can't figure out is whether I should put a {{disambig2}} to Branding on this page. Thoughts? - SanityOrMadness 13:04, 9 September 2009 (EDT)
Pronunciation
[edit]Should we add a "pronunciation and emphasis" section as a companion to the "spelling and capitalization" one?
The more common version is "Transformers", appearing in all variations of the classic theme song (G1 seasons 1, 2 and 3/4, the Lion TF:TM theme, the Armada theme, the Cybertron theme, the Animated theme). Also used in most dialogue.
"Transformers" is less common, being used more often by casual fans and non-fans, as well as mainstream media. Hwever, I can think of at least one official example: "Hi, my name is Rad, and I want to tell you about the Transformers."
The RID theme basically emphasizes every syllable individually, though the biggest emphasis still appears to be on the middle one.
Can also include a note on the oddities of Japanese pronunciation (the Galaxy Force opening themes, for example, use every syllable of "Toransufooma" to fit it into the rhythm of the song, whereas "Transformer 2010" uses several sylables as schwas, thus approximating the original English pronunciation "Transformer").--Nevermore 10:59, 15 July 2010 (EDT)
God, no. --MegaBee
- The Super Link opening manages to pronounce it as six syllables: To-ra-n-su-foo-ma.
- That said, "transformer" is a real word with a real pronunciation. The accent is on the "for." --Andrusi 22:47, 29 March 2011 (EDT)
