Talk:Trypticon (G1)
I'd like to see some sort of note in here abotu the timelien oddies, typticon onliek for Scramble City & the Mangs (which eas set ostensibly inc artoon contiuity) but first in 2006/2010 in the actual series. (Did they patch this in dialogue in the 2010 series maybe?) -Derik 05:26, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Bwa?... --FortMax 15:30, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- I know it's MENTIONED, I just want there beign a side-thing about "I know we se ehim beign constructed OUT of a city- but we also have 'several stories more-or-less in animated continuity where he's runnign around in 1986."
- (Not to get into the temporal placement of Scramble City, which IIRC has been place in 1984 & 2004, depending on your source.)-Derik 18:02, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
Zone Deaths
[edit]I had removed the references to Trypticon dying post-Headmasters because I don't know that we have a concrete source saying that the members of the Destron 9 Dai Mashougun were actually dead. I mean, we thought Metrotitan was a zombie Metroplex for the longest time, and that turned out to be false. The odds of these nine guys all dying off-screen just to be brought back to life again feels... off.
(Black Zarak I'll grant for certain as dead, and maybe King Poseidon as I don't know what happens to Turtler in MF.)
Unless we can have specific reference to them all being resurrected by Violen Jyger (Jaeger/Jiger/whatnot), I'd say leave it out.
(Also, I don't know what you mean by the picture disappearing - it showed up fine for me at 250px.) --Monzo 22:59, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm...maybe it's just my computer? It's weird, 250 screws it up but 200 or 300 it's fine.
As for the deaths, the Destron Generals were usually refered as the "9 Resurrected Destron Demon-Generals", implying that they were all brought back to life. I'll cut that part back out and rewatch Zone and see if that part was subtitled correctly or not.--DrSpengler 23:08, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Here's a screenshot of their group title.
- There's hiragana above the kanji, but I'm not so good with hiragana. --Monzo 23:21, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
Many thanks. "Kyuu Daimashou-gun" literally translates to "9 Great Demonic Warriors". That leaves me to guess that the use of the word "demonic" and the presence of dead Decepticons like Black Zarak are what pointed people in the direction of them ALL being resurrected. But still, I guess that's not really enough to go on. Maybe add a footnote?--DrSpengler 23:50, 5 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hmm. That's a mildly different interpretation than I had been going on... a friend of mine thought that "mashougun" was a pun combining mashou (demonic/devillish/etc) with shougun ("general"), which is why I had been hyphenating it "Demon-Generals".
- (To be honest, I'm not actually sure if Japanese puns work that way, and I don't think he's as Japanese-literate as you are.)
- Still, the base idea is the same in either translation, right?
- Given Violen Jyger's origin as "the conglomeration of a bunch of angry Destron souls" (see here), it's not out of the question that he'd have the ability to raise the dead - heck, clearly he HAS that power, given Black Zarak.
- I haven't looked at the current Trypticon profile to see the recent changes, but I think a vague "Trypticon may or may not have been killed under unknown circumstances and subsequentially revived" could work - or just ignore that particular facet and say that he was next seen working for Big Bug V until we get something more solid. --Monzo 00:24, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Edit: Looked at the current version. That works for me. --Monzo 00:31, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm. That "Mashougun" gag actually went over my head, there. The definately DOES work, and I doubt it's a coincidence. But I guess whether they're "Demonic Generals" or "Demonic Warriors" doesn't really matter. Personally, I like "Generals" better. Also, I added a stub for Violen Jygar. Haven't written the fiction summary yet, so I'll be sure to add that tid bit abut him being the cumulation of angry Decepticon Sparks (didn't know that until now). Thanks.--DrSpengler 00:38, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
2005/2006
[edit]As Jackpot asked about this in the latest edit summary: "Five Face of Darkness" is still in 2005, and consulting the Cybertron Chronicle shows that the first occurrence of the "Historical Trailer" stating that "Now it is the year 2006" was with "Starscream's Ghost," the tenth aired episode of the season, well before "Big Broadcast," which was twentieth. -KilMichaelMcC 02:02, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Trypticon
[edit]actually on the main page it states that the G1 Trypticon toy has NEVER been available to buy in the UK but that's WRONG!!!! coz during the mid to late 80's in a shop called WHAT EVERYONE WANTS in GLASGOW! i bought my G1 Trypticon toy there & still have him to this day!(although i've since lost his side ramps!)but he's still a good toy & i'm lucky to have him! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hosta (talk • contribs){{#if:08:51, 10 February 2011| 08:51, 10 February 2011|}}.
- Was he available only there? If so, it was probably an imported toy not one generally released in the UK market. Any toy can be bought anywhere via specialty importers.--Khajidha 09:00, 10 February 2011 (EST)
- aye your right! he prob was an import! coz it had Scramble City written on one the corner of the front of the box! but....still....a lucky find! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 95.145.104.184 (talk • contribs){{#if:07:20, 11 February 2011| 07:20, 11 February 2011|}}.
UK Release
[edit]Cute bit of trivia regarding the UK release - the Marvel comic actually rounded up 10 as competition prizes. The competition emphasised that the toy was not 'normally' available in the UK - though an occasional recurring theme in letters pages was "I found this toy that you said isn't out in the UK"... Grimlock occasionally asked for readers to send packaging in so he could verify they were genuine toys, and opined they were. Don't know enough about UK 1980s toy shop ordering channels to come up with anything definitive, but I guess smaller independents went through different wholesalers - it's possible, considering the line seems to have had a slower decline over here, that we got shipped US overstock or something. The Trypticon competition was in #185 (Oct '88) which I'm guessing would be around the time he was discontinued in America. Street Heat 01:16, 27 November 2011 (EST)
Box Art
[edit]Wasn't sure where I should put this but I found this link to a guy who claims to have done the Trypticon box art, and also has some VERY interesting alternate drawings of Optimus Prime and Megatron's box art. I've NEVER seen this alternate Megatron art before. http://www.base24.com/robot.htm 207.255.27.100 10:53, 13 March 2012 (EDT)

Putting this here since there's no longer a separate Kre-O page. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 18:19, 31 December 2016 (EST)
Takara Trypticon's Towers
[edit]The rumor that all copies of LG43 have the symmetric tower tooling is false. I own one with asymmetric towers and have deleted that anecdote twice so I'm posting it here. AzimuthAcolyte (talk) 15:03, 16 May 2018 (EDT)
"Legendary shelfwarmer"?
[edit]Isn't that an exaggeration? He ended up at clearance stores because those are the places that bought inventory from dead TRU warehouses. Metroplex was at Costco for $40 too. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 10:40, 21 September 2018 (EDT)
"The Nemesis"
[edit]Should we include this in the toy section? I mean from the words of John Warden himself "Trypticon can also convert into The Nemesis, an incredible space fortress." While showing the vehicle mode. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjQE0N233X0 Chaosomega (talk) 23:22, 22 February 2021 (EST)
