Talk:Umbral Blaster

I don't see how the name implies much of anything, and I don't think there is a basis for saying it's likely as powerful as the Requiem Blaster. In fact, I'd say it's more likely less powerful, given that the Requiem Blaster was a legendary weapon and one of the three keys needed to wake Unicron. --KilMichaelMcC 13:41, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

I concur. I think the current article is overstated. --Steve-o 15:13, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

agreed re: the Requiem Blaster. I think the speculation about Dark energy is fair tho. (Umbra being darkest shadow.)
Of course,f or all we know, the Umbra Blaster is a glorified Black Beam Gun, but that doesnt' really have much 'blast' to it, now would it?
Categorizing recolor mini-cons combiners is a pain. In Armada, therte were 4 mini-con combiners. 3 were legendary weapons that awakened Unicron. The 4th (perceptor) seemed to form a pshychic godhead... or something. The point is, they're all REALLY IMPORTANT, seemingly by categoy.
...and the recolors just... aren't.
(No, wait, the Magna-wing wasnt' anything special, was it?)
Ultimately IF ANYTHING, I'd like point out in italics; Attempting to compare the Umbra Blaster to Requiem Blaster fraught, because not even the Requiem Blaster compares tot he Requiem Blaster- the Mini-Cons lost their Phenomenal Godlike Powers after Armada, and now have Merely Reasonable Demigodlike Powers. -Derik 15:28, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
  • God-like powers

"phenomenal cosmic powers" and "Nearly-Cosmic powers" are funnier, as that's what Aladin's genie used to describe his diferent power levels.

The Bios state that the Minicon team is among the most powerful of them all, but it is admittedly a bit of an interpretation to assume that the combined blaster is therefore one of the most powerful weapons of all. Of course, that would break a trend, wouldn't it? - Vanguard

Good point. I suggest a combined note that the Umbra team is among the most powerful mini-cons teams- but that probbaly doesnt' approach the godlike levels seen in Armada 'cuz the mini-cons lost their powers. -Derik 15:54, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Were their powers reduced? It would be a neat story idea if they were, but was it actually stated somewhere? --ItsWalky 18:14, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, I don't know if they say it anywhere (perhaps they expended their energy making the green plot Uni device thingie), but Perceptor certainly was reduced in power between Armada and Energon - Vanguard
Based on what can it be said Perceptor was reduced in power? --KilMichaelMcC 19:12, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
In the Dreamwav'e comic (#13? #12?) Sparkplug explains how it works to Prime. Mini-cons can provide a sorta of 'mundane' powerlink via their own systems, or-- Mini-cons ALSO have the ability to tap an unknown extradimensional power source for the 'super' Powerlink, the crazy-over-the-top-dragonball powerlinks. This is what they tapped to destroy Unicron in Armada #19.
Since Unicron subsequently showed up again, and no one said "Hey, lets get the Mini-cons, they're living just one sector over!" I conclude their extradimensional link has been severed, and they can no longer do the 'OMGWTFROFLOL!!!1' powerlink. That's the 'natural' read ont he situation, not conjecture I think.
Though less explicit in other continuities, this seems to be how things were int he cartoon as well- but that's more my own opinion. Agree? Disagree? -Derik 20:01, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
I don't think that's so much a natural read on the situation as it is a plot contrivance. Transformers is full of hi-then-bye devices of power. --ItsWalky 02:13, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. Oftentimes the unstoppable becomes stoppable the episode after the unstoppable appeared. I'm not about to ascribe actual "story" to this in anything that's supposed to be free of conjecture. The issue of the depowered Mini-Cons can be brought up on the MAIN "Mini-Cons" page, or even the Energon Cartoon page. But It certainly isn't worth putting on any individual Mini's page. --M Sipher 02:25, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
And at the point when it's established that Mini-cons are quite stopable in all continuities, but onyl Unstopable in Armada?
...at that poitn is needs no clarification on the individual mc's pages, 'cuz it's common sense. *sigh* I yield for Skyboom S.H.I.E.L.D. -Derik 02:57, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't even think this new information is true. I'm pretty sure I remember the Umbral Blaster being on the cardbacks. -LV 21:32, 26 January 2008 (UTC)

I just got the toys themselves today, and i noticed that they are not shown in a combined state anywere apart from the manual, and so was the umbral blaster, wile the dark saber IS shown on it. the only thing i can't tell is if it's only in europe this way, or if it is in the US also.--Grand-majin 21:54, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
[1]. Here's the American card. I'm sure there's all sorts of crap that gets omitted from multi-lingual cards - as a Canadian, I can attest to this - but it's not notable enough to warrant a mention here. - RolonBolon 22:11, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
Oh well, at least i got a reason why it gets deleted now, i only wanted to point that out.--Grand-majin 22:15, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
