Template talk:Goicons
Hey, what's the URL of the photoshop template again? -Derik 16:59, 22 June 2009 (EDT)
- Image:GoBox template.psd --abates 17:06, 22 June 2009 (EDT)
- I put it back in the GB image category where it's supposed to be... it had its description and Category obliterated in the Bookworm recovery. --M Sipher 17:08, 22 June 2009 (EDT)
GoBox images
[edit]Because nothing actually links the two of these together. --Monzo 20:19, 20 December 2009 (EST)
Bumper has one too many
[edit]Talk:Bumper (G1). Yeah, I'm not quite sure how to fix this, being inexperienced. But I think Template:Goicons is the place to go. Item42 15:05, 15 February 2010 (EST)
Featured Articles?
[edit]I'm thinking that pretty much all of our featured articles need Go-Boxes. Some of them already have 'em (Cheetor, Seekers) but others don't (Jhiaxus, B.O.T.). Given that we have some boxes that are linking to some really under-loved articles, why not link to our best ones? I may make this a little pet project of mine. -hx 22:10, 27 February 2010 (EST)
- ETA - I added Jhiaxus, ROTF Jetfire, and Sideways. I made a B.O.T. one, but I'm not really pleased with it. -hx 22:45, 27 February 2010 (EST)
- I had a go at making a B.O.T. icon. Better? :) --abates 23:23, 27 February 2010 (EST)
Couple a questions/requests
[edit]- If a page gets moved, there's nothing to indicate whether or not it's got a goicon that needs a link change. I'm thinking a goicon image template containing both a link to the goicon template and the relating page would at least raise awareness if links are fixed manually, but perhaps something can be programmed that's more effective?
- Does a page needs to meet any requirements before it can has a goicon?
- Do we actually have a "one goicon per page" rule, and if so, are separate goicons for subpages allowed and what does one do if one prefers to see another image used for a goicon? Should permission for a change be requested first (case in point, I would prefer a goicon image for Overlord from a Japanese source)?
- Would anybody object to Animated Starscream's goicon being repurposed for Animated Slipstream? I always end up confused I'm not reaching her page when I click it. Geewunling 02:19, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
- The main reason for the first problem is that most of the goicon images were uploaded during the crash period, and don't have descriptions at all, whereas they should be at least linking to the article they're for. A goicon image template could work, but so could supplying descriptions for them all. Re Animated Starscream, I think I'd be more confused if that went to Slipstream's page, since it's a picture of Starscream. --abates 02:39, 7 June 2011 (EDT)
- I made a template to throw on goicon images, which can be seen in action here. I'd like some feedback before I add them to the rest. Geewunling 03:45, 11 August 2011 (EDT)
- Looks great! --abates 03:48, 11 August 2011 (EDT)

Ratchet (Prime)'s gobox
[edit]I just noticed it comes up blank when appearing on the widget on forum signatures: [1] --abates 02:05, 19 February 2012 (EST)
- Wonder if has anything to do with the fact it's the only GoBox image whose filename doesn't start with "GB-" ? --Tigerpaw28 15:56, 19 February 2012 (EST)
Blaze/Fizzle
[edit]Bringing this up here as I don't know how to fix it. The Blaze article has been merged and redirected to Fizzle. Currently the goicon links to the Blaze redirect instead of the actual Fizzle page. While not exactly wrong, this strikes me as inelegant. I actually just saw the Blaze gobox while on the Fizzle page. --Khajidha 12:34, 21 July 2013 (EDT)
- Presumably, we should change the coding or whatever to make it go to Fizzle instead. Escargon 12:38, 21 July 2013 (EDT)
Wheeljack's Bizarre Invention! Optimus Power Up!? GoBox
[edit]I noticed that this particular GoBox only leads to Wheeljack. I can only guess that the punctuation marks of the title seem to be interfering... --Inkblot 05:09, 14 October 2013 (EDT)
- The apostrophe messes up the link. I've fixed it! --abates 05:46, 14 October 2013 (EDT)
GoBox glitches?
[edit]At least a couple of times in the past few days, instead of getting a single GoBox image, my monitor will display a whole bunch of them, sometimes instead of the Search box. Is this a site issue, or is my computer/karma to blame? --Rhymus (talk) 19:36, 22 November 2013 (EST)
Someone please make this a GoBox?
[edit]because i really think it needs to be a GoBox

Name lengths
[edit]When making goicons for articles with long names, the alt text should be something short so it fits entirely in the box. E.G. the alt text for the Headmasters comic series only just fits, so something longer than that can end up running off the left-hand side of the box and it doesn't look very good. --abates (talk) 22:16, 6 April 2016 (EDT)
Unicron Go-Box
[edit]This one, to be specific. It links to Unicron#G.I._Joe_vs._the_Transformers. Problem is, that section got split off along with the rest of the Generation 1 stuff, so it should really be linking to Unicron/Generation 1#G.I._Joe_vs._the_Transformers. The link in its current state is half-broken; it just drops you at the top of the page.
I'd change this myself, but I've been made to understand that certain forms of punctuation can make the ol' Go-Box sick to its stomach. What I'm asking is this: Would making that link go to Unicron/Generation 1 be possible to do without messing up the Go-Box script? -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 22:36, 23 April 2016 (EDT)
Goitem template
[edit]I've made {{Goitem}} to use when adding an item to this page, so people don't have to edit raw XML and possibly break the code with a typo (we've all been there). Plus you no longer need to provide the image URL, just the name of the image. --abates (talk) 21:59, 1 February 2018 (EST)
