Template talk:Mainpic
This template would work better as a placeholder for the mainpic itself. Differently-shaped, larger, floated right. --Steve-o 22:21, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Agreed. Also, the image should be one of the Big Evil Main Badguys in Silhouette from one of the Japanese cartoons. Or... heeeeeeey. How about a scan from the initial 1988 Pretender catalog? The one with the second-wave Pretenders in silhouette with a "?" over them? I'd rather use an official image than a made-up one. (Also, variety of source and content!) --M Sipher 22:24, 15 January 2008 (UTC)

Make a template that's about, say, 250px wide, with this image up top, the info below, so it takes the space where the main image should be... think this'd be a winner. --M Sipher 02:32, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I fear that 'coming soon' will often be a lie unless this category becomes a pet project of users.
- (I also fear that it plays into the 'upload lots of crap images and call it content' crowd-- and I made the template! Clearly I am simply filled with misgivings.)
- I'll take a poke at it tonight if I don't collapse first. (I do like how this template page acctually includes what's basically a capsule version of what would be a 'policy' page-- instructions on when and why to use, not just how.) -Derik 07:39, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
That's TOO simple, to the point of being confusing. As it is, all this does is put a tiny image on a page for no discernible reason. WHY is the image there? It needs the box, it needs the explanitory text, and it needs to be bigger (the box should be about 200~250px wide for preference, since the "standard" for main images is 250~300px). --M Sipher 20:49, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Category...
[edit]Looking at it... I'm wokring up a "characters who have no official visual representation" category/placer-template. But... "Characters with no pictures" is actually a far more accurate descriptor for that. Shouldn't THIS template/category be "Character pages with no pictures"? That's more accurate... --M Sipher 01:02, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
