Wataru formally meets the Autobots.

Synopsis

A nasty right hook from Optimus Prime sends Starscream right at Wataru, prompting Bumblebee to rescue and chide the human on it being dangerous. Wataru points out in return that Ramjet's right behind the Autobot, looking forward to roasted yellow sports cars and squishy à la flambé. Not wanting to be hampered with constantly protecting Wataru, Bumblebee tosses the only civilian in the whole mess into the stands, telling him to get out. Before Wataru can even consider escaping, Starscream has Bumblebee pinned and at point-blank null-ray range, daring Optimus to make a move.

Starscream demands "energon" in exchange, but Wataru interrupts the negotiations to criticise the Decepticon—taking a hostage while grinning cockily is so passé. He then unleashes a fire extinguisher blast right at Starscream's face, followed by the extinguisher itself, adding insult to injury. Just as Optimus orders Mirage and Grimlock to attack, a massive beam of energy temporarily halts both sides, and the Autobot commander recognizes the attack. Starscream berates Ramjet for contacting their leader, but Ramjet points out that the change in circumstances merited it, much to the Air Commander's chagrin.

Before Starscream can offer an apology, Megatron "accepts" his subordinate's explanation by throttling him, even as he spouts an "I'll be taking your Spark, Optimus" speech. Prime takes a shot at Megatron, but the Emeperor of Destruction demonstrates his less-than-stellar consideration for the welfare for his troops by using Starscream as a shield. Mocking Prime for not going all-out, Megatron fires his fusion cannon at the terrified Bumblebee and Wataru watching from the stands—only for the Autobot commander to deflect the attack by actually shooting it with his ion blaster. Megatron offers sarcastic praise for the Autobots' style of thinking and decides to retreat. He transforms into gun mode and shoots an even bigger hole in the dome, raining roof debris inside. As the older Autobots check for injuries after climbing out from the rubble—Grimlock proclaiming he's unbeatable—a protected and uninjured Wataru and Bumblebee finally introduce themselves properly.

Mid-flight, Ramjet asks why Megatron didn't continue his attack. Megatron scathingly responds that both jets in less than proper fighting condition, much to their embarrassment and, especially for Starscream, chagrin. Megatron apparently has a different reason for retreating, and he mulls over his disappointment at not being able to reveal all of his power.

Proper introductions from the other Autobots are finally done, and Wataru is delighted to meet actual aliens. He says he can't wait to tell the school, but Prime suggests that the boy see their hidden base first. To his credit, Mirage questions such a decision, and Optimus replies that they don't really have much of a choice and an explanation is in order.

As for Wataru, visiting the Autobots' hidden underground base is like entering a kingdom of giants.
