Wataru Hoshinoumi
- Wataru Hoshinoumi is a human from the Comic BunBun Henkei! Henkei! Transformers manga portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Wataru Hoshinoumi (星ノ海 ワタル Hoshinoumi Wataru) wins the "craziest hair ever" contest. He's able to eat his lunch in about a minute (without choking—yet), and doesn't bother to look both ways when running out into the street. (Cross-traffic? What cross-traffic?)
A 5th-grader living in the Japanese town of Hoshinochō, Wataru is a very excitable kid, aspiring to become a famous person one day (famous in what, exactly, we don't know), and he carries his own "X-File" (really a small notebook). Given that his hometown is nicknamed "Japan's Roswell" due to it being the crash and cover-up site of a very large meteorite years ago, his Mulder-like attitude regarding the conspiracy theories floating about Hoshinochō comes as no surprise.

Notes
[edit]
- Wataru's last name, Hoshinoumi (星ノ海), literally translates to "sea of stars". With a name like that, the kid would almost have to grow up to be buddies with aliens.
- On promoting the Henkei! Henkei! manga, Naoto Tsushima had drawn up an unused early promo art featuring both Bumblebee and Wataru, the latter's hair being of only one color.<ref>{{#if: 連載開始前のヘケヘケ予告用カット ワタル君が全然違ってるw http://t.co/0X7VOmXfH0 |"連載開始前のヘケヘケ予告用カット ワタル君が全然違ってるw http://t.co/0X7VOmXfH0"—|}}{{#if: https://twitter.com/naototsushima/status/333301292229328897 |Naoto Tsushima|Naoto Tsushima}}{{#if: Twitter |, Twitter|}}{{#if: |, ""|}}{{#if: 2013 |, 2013{{#if: 05 |/{{#switch:{{#len:05}}|1=005|05}}{{#if: 11|/{{#switch:{{#len:11}}|1=011|11}}|}}}}|}}{{#if: https://twitter.com/naototsushima/status/333301292229328897 ||}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/naototsushima/status/333301292229328897%7C7%7C11}}%7Cweb.archive= (archive link)|}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/naototsushima/status/333301292229328897%7C8%7C11}}%7Cweb.archive= (archive link)|}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/naototsushima/status/333301292229328897%7C7%7C10}}%7Carchive.is= (archive link)|}}{{#switch:{{#sub:https://twitter.com/naototsushima/status/333301292229328897%7C8%7C10}}%7Carchive.is= (archive link)|}}{{#if: | (dead link)}}</ref> Wataru's earlier design was used in an ad for the October 2008 issue of Comic BunBun.
- Although Wataru is a young boy, he uses the rough "ore" オレ (俺) when identifying himself. In contrast, Osamu Kihara, a grown adult, uses the more boyish "boku" ボク (僕). "I" in Japanese can be pronounced in more than one way and the usage can sometimes identify the speaker's attitude and character - from the common "watashi" 私, to formal "watakushi", to the older "ware" (我) that various Decepticon leaders have used in the Japanese series/dubs (such as Victory Deathsaurus and Animated Megatron).
