The Thermo-borer is a vehicle that can create tunnels. It presumably uses heat to make excavation easier. It is equipped with a Beta Blocking Shield.

Soundwave used the Thermo-borer to get through the Antarctic ice and find the location of the Autobot recovery base. When he found it, the base's alarm system was activated and he had to retreat. Ratchet quickly attached a Memory Scrambler Mine to the vehicle before it disappeared, so that the base's location would remain a secret, but the Beta Blocking Shield cancelled the mine's effect.
