Tri-Rex is a combiner from the Animorphs continuity.
This is the best this thing's ever going to get.

The Tri-Rex came into existence when Jake, Cassie, and Marco broke into one of the Yeerks' genetic experimentation labs, and discovered a morph so powerful a single human could not hope to take on its form alone. But through the use of an advanced morphing technique, each concentrates on a segment of the titanic beast and they merge to become this powerful Tyrannosaurus rex! A team of one, the Tri-Rex is an unstoppable force, the prehistoric beast from the future!

Animorphs

As is this.
  • Tri-Rex (Super, 1999)
The sole combiner and Super Class figure released in the Animorphs toyline, Tri-Rex was only available as a giftset including Jake, Marco, and Cassie. Each figure transformed from a dinosaur/human hybrid into a section of the dinosaur; Jake formed the head/neck/arms, Marco formed the legs/midsection, and Cassie made the tail/spine. The toy featured an impressive amount of articulation in the combined form and even boasted electronic functions in the form of a button-activated roar (seemingly identical to the Godzilla roar sound effect) and stomping sounds when the legs were pressed in. The tail is made of a soft rubbery plastic and features a simple 'bend-and-release' whipping gimmick.

Notes

[edit]
  • It is unclear just how a combiner works in the context of the Animorphs fiction, particularly on a mental level.
  • The Tri-Rex has little-to-no basis in other Animorphs fiction—the Animorphs acquired Tyrannosaurus rex morphs in [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}In the Time of Dinosaurs|{{#if:||In the Time of Dinosaurs}}]], but the characters did not combine, and could individually morph into Tyrannosaurus rex as they would any other animal.
