Bureaucrat

[edit]

Hi David. Since the original founder of this wiki has been inactive since June 2005, I've made you a bureaucrat here in case there are any trusted community members who need to be made into admins. See Wikia:Help:User access levels for help with this. I liked your recent comic mentioning the wiki. Perhaps you should link to the wiki as well to encourage more transformers fans to join in. About the delete of the IDW megatron Pic

[edit]

The image illustrate megatron in his IDW form (as well as his alt mode), and it as been (at least) released on the official site. Isn't it all an image need to be. The text here, isn't the important part and is still readable anyway. Here just to prove it's not "stolen" or anything: http://www.idwpublishing.com/newreleases.shtml --GUIGUI 14:12, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

I know it's not stolen. We can probably manage to wait one more day until the actual issue comes out and we can have something of useable size to scan. The image, at the size it was, was useless. (Also, we should avoid having full pages up, unless absolutely necessary. Otherwise it's not exactly fair use.) --ItsWalky 14:16, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

And the Lord said "DUDE". And it was groovy.

[edit]

For the record, and I know this counts for almost nothing, Willis is the reason I'm here. Yeah, I love wikis, I love Transformers, and I (rather inexplicably) adore the Jumpstarters, but I wouldn't know about Teletraan 1 if not for the blog on Shortpacked!.

So, yeah. That's all I gotta say for now... rawkon, Walkyboy. \m/ --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by MrSeth (talkcontribs). 19:11, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

Something I Noticed

[edit]

I see that when new users come in - I did this too - one of the first things they start to do is edit out the silly captions and some of the humor from the Wiki. This is mostly stemming from the transition from Wikipedia and other Wikis to Teletraan-1, since most others have strict no-humor. Is there a way to put up some sort of banner in the "Help Contents" guide, that explains, look, we're silly here sometimes?

And, um, that guy below is just funny as hell. Mirai Gen 19:36, 31 January 2007 (UTC)

Pie

[edit]

What exactly is the great importance of Pie? --FortMax 21:20, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

As the ratio of the circumfrence to the radius of a sphere, it underpins the structure of our universe.
Of course, some people argue that because no perfect circle exists in out quasi-raster universe, pi is actually nothing that a unique mathematical phenomena, of no consequence ot the real world.
(These people are communists.) -Derik 22:17, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

disambuig question

[edit]

When a character shares a name with an episode, do both pages get a series tag, or just the episode? --FortMax 17:41, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

Are we talking about Chase? He's the only one that wouldn't get a (G1) otherwise, that I can think of... I would tentatively say that having the TF be Chase and the episode be Chase (episode) would be fine. Of course, we might need a disambig page to encompass Chip Chase, I dunno. --ItsWalky 18:01, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

CSS change

[edit]

Hey Walky, I'm requesting a change to the sitewide CSS that you can see at MediaWiki_talk:Monobook.css

It's Wikipedia's pretty able classes. Wikia (buizarely) comes with no table classes. We dont' use tables much here, but should we want to, we'd want them to look like this. (And this is the class all the wikipedia-how-to-create-a-table tutorials tell you to use.) The code is unaltered from Wikipedia, so it won't conflict with anything.

Appreciate it if you could port it over for me.-Derik 01:31, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Where do I put it? --ItsWalky 00:07, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Oh, sorry, I forgot you hadn't done this before.
Please append the requested change from the CSS discussion area MediaWiki_talk:Monobook.css to the end of the actual CSS file MediaWiki:Monobook.css, which you can edit but I cannot.
The lack of these table styles is moderately more pressing than it was when I originally requested them, since we now have an article that actually uses tables -Derik 22:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

online update

[edit]

When you talk about online updates, maybe a direct link should be required (if it's official and everyhing and stuf...). --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.243.101.77 (talkcontribs). 23:23, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

... for what? --M Sipher 22:33, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Maybe I have I have missunderstood, but when he talk about "online update", he talk about material that have been put on official sites or something, and therefore, for completition sake, a link to it would be appropriate. If I have get it wrong, or if those sites require payment to be accessible, then forget what I say... --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by GUIGUI (talkcontribs). 23:41, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
It is indeed pay content for the Fan Club. A direct link would not work. --ItsWalky 22:45, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Alright. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by GUIGUI (talkcontribs). 23:47, 16 March 2007 (UTC)

Scale question

[edit]

Hi there, this is PacifistPrime, the originator of the new Scale article. Thanks very much for your contributions. Just one question though; you've changed some of the estimated "real world" heights for characters like Prime and Bumblebee, stating that they "have been calculated". I don't mean to disagree with you per se (although I must admit your figures do instinctively strike me as unlikely, but that's just my guestimate), but I was wondering if you could please source those figures. Not so much in the article itself (believe me, I'm very sick of the bluenoses over at Wikipedia always being on peoples' case about that), but rather just for my own personal interest. I've actually wanted for some time now to set up a project that would use the toys and specs for the real vehicles to calculate how big most of the pre-Movie G1s would be. But if someone has already done this, I'd love to know their results, and I'd be particularly interested in their method. Can you give me some directions? Please respond in my own talk page, if you don't mind. Hope to hear from you, PacifistPrime. --12:46, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

LV once figured it out using real vehicle lengths and stuff.
Also, a trend in the article seems to be overunderestimating the size of the Transformers in the cartoon, for example, saying that Optimus Prime would "only" be 20 feet tall, versus the giant size you believe he is. We've got lots of model sheets available to us that show that Optimus Prime was drawn to be 15-ish feet, or 3 Spikes tall. Now, the comic tended to draw the Transformers much, much larger than that, but in the cartoon, they were kinda dinky, though that's of course not incredibly consistent. --ItsWalky 15:39, 25 March 2007 (UTC)

The Enemy Within Part 2

[edit]

I'm wanting to start writing an article for The Enemy Within, but there is one slight problem. My scans of the issue (saved from Seibertron and TCA before the comic scans were taken down) are missing pages 9 and 10 (the last two color pages) from part 2, and from what I've been able to dig up from the Wayback Machine, the scans used on the various sites never had those two pages (or a few from The Man Of Iron UK printing, and page 8 from UK #6). I'm not sure if this is kosher, but any idea where I might be able to "acquire" those two pages? --FortMax 19:07, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Blog not wiki

[edit]

Hey man, that's totally fair enough; realise I was on a bit of a rave there about Masterpiece Megs. Still, you didn't have to be impolite about it. Cheers, PacifistPrime. P.S. I wouldn't be caught dead writing a blog. Got much better things to do with my time. Like edit this wiki.  ;-) --10:31, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Me again. I seem to stuff up on your watch pretty regularly, huh? Sorry about the E.J.Su cover thing; I honestly thought that WAS him for some reason. So much so, in fact, that I was wondering myself why the style seemed a little inconsistent with his other work...! Do you know who did do it? I expect was it the same dude who did the "Uncle Prime" recruitment poster. one more Dinobot question

[edit]

I'm wanting to try the part swap you did with your BWX Dinobots, but have one problem. Is there a way to remove the upper half of the molds upper arms without messing up the pegs and holes? Years ago, I removed those parts from my FoxKids Dinobot, but after re-assembling him, the arms would often pop off while rotating the shoulder swivel. --FortMax 18:09, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

The bicep piece, you mean? I haven't had any trouble with it. I just yanked it out of its socket, unscrewed it from the elbow, swapped, and voila. Worked same as before. --ItsWalky 18:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

Just Sayin' Hi

[edit]

Ok, this is embarassing.

I've been on the TFWiki a while now, and on a lot of discussion pages I've posted on, you're the first or second person to answer a question or comment on my post.

I also read Shortpacked and didn't know you were... well, you.

It was seemingly at random I clicked on your link to see your page and, lo and behold, you're the reason for so much joy and pain, the grand well of Transformers knowledge, the de facto LEGENDARY user who knows how many punctuation marks are in the title of seemingly random comics... from EUROPE.

I simply want to say that it's an honor for me to be able to collaborate with you on this project. Transformers has always been a big part of my childhood, and now my adulthood. I'm starting up the UniCronicles (see my page for more details) and yours, along with several other webcomics I read, have inspired me. I thank you for Shortpacked, your contribution to Teletraan I, and, of course, for making fun of that ditzy purple skank. I mean, am I the only one who noticed she was like 3 million years the senior of most of the Cybertron cast? Granny's got her freak on.

Anyway, keep making teh funniez. I'll keep reading them. King Starscream 04:55, 5 May 2007 (UTC)

Transformers Chess Set

[edit]

Do you know anything about the upcoming Tranformers Chess set? All I know is that Autobots are gold, and Decepticons are silver. And what should we do about an article? Just call it "Chess" or "Transformers Chess"? Plus, can anyone confirm whether or not Bumblebee is the pawn for the Autobot side? King Starscream 02:57, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, there's going to be two sets, one that's really expensive and in color and featuring show-accurate G1 dudes -- and the one you speak of, which is movie-related. Do we know what they say on the box, yet? I suppose we could have one article at "Chess set" or something that talks about all kinds of TF chess sets. --ItsWalky 15:38, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
Unless there's something that really makes the sets remarkable or stand out as deserving individual mention, I move for one article about all Transformers versions of Chess, with a note about "fulstasis". -Derik 16:31, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I think just Chess is a better title than "Chess set". --Steve-o 16:45, 9 May 2007 (UTC)
I suppose a single page would be in order. Even if they are remarkable and awesome and whatever, there's still little to be said, other than a list of who is what piece and where/when it's available. I have to agree with calling it Chess, thought. King Starscream 07:27, 3 June 2007 (UTC)

1 page.--Autobotx1010 19:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

P.S. in the movie set, pawns are autobot symbols. BB might be in the G1 set.--Autobotx1010 19:49, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

Please remove (or at least justify) block

[edit]

Um, Excuse me, but... what the heck? (Block ID #49)

Why on earth have you blocked me? VANDALISM? Are you kidding?!?

Is this about the two snarky little comments spilled over from the Movie-G1-IDW categorisation micro-debate? i.e., the ones that were already deleated from the Movie pages well over a week ago and are thus no longer an issue at all? Have you seriously blocked me over that? Good lord...

Okay, maybe those TWO very SMALL comments were SLIGHTLY out of order, but to call it vandalism...! This isn't Wikipedia, mate. If you wanna start policing sarcastic comments and POV material then you've got a loooong task ahead of you on this site, don't you think? Blocking me for those comments hardly seems rational.

That you wanted to delete them? Fine. But to BLOCK me for it? C'mon; get real.

I am a comparatively new user, but one in good standing who has contributed several articles and is polite in all discussions at every turn, far more so than some other users here that I've observed. I've noticed that on more than one occasion you have had somewhat grumpy reactions to things I have to say, so I'm more than a little suspicious that this block isn't some kind of vindictive action on your part, as you seemingly have some kind of problem with me, although I can't imagine on what basis.

This block is clearly absurd, and not at all in the spirit of fun and good humour I've come to love about this site. I don't see how you can reasonably justify this action, and I am also complaining about this to your fellow adminstrator.

Yours indignantly, PacifistPrime. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.239.53.31 (talkcontribs). 23:56, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

For your information, I banned you right BEFORE I deleted your vandalism. It wasn't a week-later thing, no. And, yes, if you're going to end a long Talk Page discussion in which you were overwhelmingly outvoted by editing the articles themselves with retaliatory comments, then, yes, that's vandalism. Certainly, if that's going to be the nature of your contributions here, then you don't belong. --ItsWalky 01:29, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
With all due respect this is a massive overraction. I'm prepared to apologise to anyone you want me to, but you seem to be attributing all kinds of deviant, troublemaking behaviour to me that is simply NOT truthfully accurate. Don't take my word for it: please look at my history of contribution and discussion with other users. I've always been scrupulously polite and have never gotten into an edit war with anyone.
So, Okay, yes, if you really want me to say it: I DID A BAD THING. I'm sorry. Don't you guys have some kind of strike system? To permanently ban me over this small piece of sarcasm really seems excessive, don't you think?
PacifistPrime. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 220.239.53.31 (talkcontribs). 03:46, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
You're not permanently banned! Steve-o says it was for three months, but I don't think I would have done it for that long on purpose. --ItsWalky 04:00, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Stereo is annoying. Can we pick a talk page and stick with it? (I nominate this one.) -Derik 04:02, 21 May 2007 (UTC)
Regardless, I've unblocked you for the three months and reblocked you for an additional week starting today, as I intended to block for two weeks. --ItsWalky 04:03, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, dude. You seem to be a step ahead of me. I'm not trying to foul you up. Please feel free to delete my erroneous edits. I was trying to say that G2 Breakdown (the AM) was unofficial. Just hadn't gotten to it yet!--G.B. Blackrock 03:22, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

Question for you since you've got the Autobots DS card- Does it have the USS Seaspray docked in Tranquility's harbor in the Autobots version?--MCRG 03:32, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah! Heh. I didn't notice that, but I see the name now. --ItsWalky 03:45, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
Probably old news, but there's an available mode meant as a Hoist homage too. -King Starscream 16:08, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Can anyone get a shot of Create-A-Bot (Autobot)? Unfortunately I don't have anything that would have the clarity or resolution to get a good shot of his head.

By-the-by, Walky. He kinda looks like a silhouette of Ratchet. --King Starscream 04:15, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

Bobby Bolivia Trivia

[edit]

Wow, you're right. I totally misinterpreted that. To be fair (shift blame) the same bit of trivia on Bumblebee's page wasn't as clear at the time it was written. So..um.. yeah. But you know, now that it's evident that they kinda paid exactly what it was worth, I fail to see how that bit of trivia is even relevant to the article now. It should probably just go altogether. BANNED

[edit]

What the hell did I do to warrant a ban, exactly? As far as I'm aware, I don't even think I broke any rules, and if I did, an official warning would be appropriate. I received no such warning. I was not here for trolling and you know that - you use that bullshit excuse to get people to ignore arguments you can't handle. But you, personally, who made this decision, know I'm not a troll.

This is fucking low. I had little enough respect for you down to your ranting against the fanbase, Willis, but this is a whole new level of buggery. If you're going to use your comic to rant against and discredit people you don't like, the least you can do is suck it up when people rant at you back, and not act like a control-freak child.

I really don't think you're aware of your own actions anymore. --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.159.44.88 (talkcontribs). 00:15, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Do the words no personal attacks mean anything to you? -- SFH 00:18, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Do the words "warning before ban" mean anything to you? Rulemongering doesn't justify a decision anyway, since Walky is one of the people making the rules. There were plenty of personal attacks leveled at me, but I did not report them officially. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.159.44.88 (talkcontribs). 00:30, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
I really find it hard to believe that you think it's completely on a rational level of discourse to claim that the comic strip I draw is about child pornography. If I'm not mistaken about your identity, you've been banned from almost every single Transformers web board you've had an acquaintance with, and I'm only doing this place a favor by getting rid of you. --ItsWalky 00:22, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
That's not an excuse. I will openly admit I HAVE been banned from several forums, but only because I repeatedly opposed the staff on each and every one of them; and with good cause, they all have roughly the same problem. People bully others either into liking the movie or to agree with the kind of views you promote - and since nobody can directly attack or discredit anyone, these people(and you are) are left to their methods.
For your current decision to be validated, the admins of those boards, boards which are influenced in turn by your anti-fan attitude, would have to be near 100% correct in their decisions, and those decisions would have to occur within a context that would map exactly onto here. Any rational moderator does not base their decisions so much off performance on other boards, especially when it's not even a messageboard they're operating. Two different media. I have openly said I despise all active Transformers boards for their level of authoritarianism, yet level of tolerance towards the pushing of certain viewpoints.
Not to mention that you're still operating under the fallacy of Appeal to Majority - that alone means I shouldn't really even have to counter you.
And don't even use the "CHILD PORNOGRAPHY" thing as an excuse. Again, any rational moderator would warn several times before a ban, I personally reversed that edit even though it was obviously intended to be a joke as anyone reading this knows what pile'o'bile already is. You have no justification for what you did, but your ego is too big to realise you can actually do wrong with your power. You'll never admit it, but I wouldn't be surprised if some part of you is pissed that I defeated some of your ramblings, whether they were directly written by you or encouraged by you, it's still the kind of guff you normally blew, and I managed to defeat it. You, and the mods of the big sites will always have your ban buttons - but you will NEVER be able to justify your actions to me. That's how I know that I'm in the right, at least in situations like this - solidly backed justification is almost always absent. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.159.44.88 (talkcontribs). 00:30, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Personal attacks + deleting comments in response to you = banno --ItsWalky 00:36, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
P.S. Sign your posts. --ItsWalky 00:36, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I have never intentionally deleted comments in response to me. I just moved one recently as it was in the middle of a paragraph of text. Not to mention that happened after you banned my original IP. Personal attacks alone are not grounds enough for a ban, especially when you're doing an awful, awful lot to be mercilessly torn into.
Need I point out that once again, you are unable to defend yourself properly? When does the "You're insane?" come? Ganging up of all your little friends since a majority always means you're right?
Do you even realise what a fascist shithead you sound like? Just because you're an admin of a place doesn't give you a free pass to be a dick with it. There's a difference between what you can do and what you should do that you don't seem to have learned yet. --67.159.44.88 00:42, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

1. Hoop doesn't delete other people's comments on talk pages. 2. He actually signs his posts, which you've been asked to do many times, but haven't caught on. --FortMax 00:40, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
I didn't delete anything. If I did, it was an accident because someone posted right in the middle of text it wasn't meant to be in the middle of. Not signing my posts doesn't make me retarded since it's blatant when I'm saying something. --User:67.159.44.88 00:45, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
Actually - come to think of it, you make fun of the idea that anyone running a site can be Nazi, yet you still mention you got banned from many forums. Does that perhaps mean that you genuinely got banned for being an asshole and not opposing the staff/local clique like I did? --—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.159.44.88 (talkcontribs). 00:39, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
any rational moderator would warn several times before a ban
Not true, some things are auto-ban. I don't think you did any of them, but I'm just saying.
Dude- you got an expedited ban because you showed no signs of contrition, argued every point, used personal insults, refused to sign your posts even when repeatedly asked to (I had to go back into history and dig out which incoherent chunks of text where yours, because the posts weren't hierarchied properly so the debate was really hard to follow. This is why signin posts is important dumbfuck.)
And ultimately you got banned because you were making a major nuisance of yourself in without any correlating contribution to justify keeping you around. You're a negative. You edited 3 articles- Fandom, Shortpacking and Ruined Forever- and all' of those edits got reverted because they either flames or crappy jokes that make the articles worse. Even if I were to (generously) believe you didn't intend to start a fight, you picked the 3 flamebaitiest articles you could find and masturbated across them. Allah forfend you should write an episode summary or something.
Unrelated- Walky can Talk:Fandom be semi-protected instead of full? Loserbot isn't registered. -Derik01:06, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

I think something's screwy with the image server. I've tried resizing some of the embedded images to mess with layout on some articles, and I'm getting broken images.--Rosicrucian 14:17, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

"Deadside"?

[edit]

Umm, who? what? I just don't think you're funny, but no, I don't know you and you don't know me. 66.28.139.242 03:23, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

"Stolen Prototypes"

[edit]

I was under the impression that we just weren't allowed to use the photos of stolen prototypes. Certainly we can say that they're planned figures, right?--Rosicrucian 18:37, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

We don't have any information on the wiki from unannounced future toy releases. It's always been that way. (Also, note the header says "ANNOUNCED but uncategorized yadda yadda." Those four were shown at BotCon. --ItsWalky 18:59, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Ah, gotcha. Thanks.--Rosicrucian 19:04, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Maybe he likes having to repeatedly delete it. --FortMax 18:00, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Tip

[edit]

If persistent trolls (especially those with offensive usernames) repeatedly re-create their user talk pages, the best method to deal with it would be to include the page on Project:Title blacklist and delete the vandalism user talk page. This would be better than protecting the actual page since the the vandalism page would technically not exist, won't come up in searches, and won't be indexed on search engines. In addition, the removal of such pages might discourage the trolls since they may see those pages as their accomplishments, which would encourage them to continue their disruption.
