User talk:ItsWalky/2009
Harley Has Returned
Well, it was painful and boring waiting a month. But I've re-registered my account - though I'm still ticked off about being locked out for trying to get rid of a really stupid argument on my Talk page. I guess I should have asked a mod or something for advice though... And NOW I've got to put my User-page back up to be smug and self-satisfied about how amazing I am ALL OVER AGAIN. *sigh* Oh well...
And just for the record, I may not be able to add many new pages (my range is still limited) but I've been buying lots of toys lately, so I ought to be able to help with expanding on those sections, if not entire articles. Yours, Harley Quinn hyenaholic 10:29, 21 March 2009 (EDT)
Photos
Whoops! A few friends of mine told me they were official. I had no idea they were leaked. Thanks for the heads up!I'll be more careful.Homey 10:59, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
Hey, ItsWalky! I found out the photos weren't leaked;they were from the official transformers video game site(I went there, logged in and saw them) so it's not against policy. But thank you anyway!Homey 12:02, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
- If that's the case, then okey-doke. But note that you shouldn't overwrite Megatron's image with the new render, as you did before. The filename says "Defiance" in it, which is where the image you're overwriting is from, and that makes the filename wrong. Plus, that's his article's main image, and we use the character's first body up there. We don't update it with new bodies as they come out. --ItsWalky 12:24, 12 April 2009 (EDT)
Goddammit
Turn your anonymous LJ commentary back on. Those Moylan's fans have probably lost interest/are too busy slagging off the Animated episodes and the ROTF CG renders. Goddammit. --FFN 03:02, 14 April 2009 (EDT)
Vandalism
This is just going to a general comment section to inform you of vandalism. Remove all messages after this per deny recognition. Bumper as a Brazilian character.
Hope i'm posting this on the right place...
I did put a cap under Animated Bumper image that said "In Brazil, people know who i am."
I did not mean to say that he's brazilian, but that his toy was among the first wave of the original G1 Transformers released here during the 80's and because of that, lots of fans in Brazil remember him almost as much as Cliffjumper or Bumblebee.
Just wanted to make this clear. I used the caption under the image again, but if you think it shouldn't be used anyway, be my guest and delete it. --Akumateukuma 23:57, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

ROTF little one - Hightower or Scrapper
I was going by the alt modes we see on deck. Scrapper's a front loader type thing, whereas Hightower is a crane, which looks similar to the one we see in the film...although that little one image does have that double pronged end on his hand. I also though Scrapper was the one chasing Sam and Mikeala, used a wrecking ball. Anyway, if it is decided it's Scrapper, you'll need to transfer/rewrite the bit for Hightower's page I did. Eire 22.55 27th June 2009
- It isn't Hightower. Hightower is a truss crane and is quite large. The unnamed dead guy was a smaller excavator-type vehicle. In fact, he's quite similar to the incorrect vehicle mode Demolishor was given in the ROTF adaptation comic. Scrapper was the guy with the mace-fist that chased after Sam & Mikeala. --FFN 02:31, 28 June 2009 (EDT)

Replacing other folks' uploaded images
I've noticed that you've replaced images a good few times over the years. Sometimes it's for better quality, but others I can't see why. My Bludgeon one? Aspect ratio? Your filename is nigh identical. Others, but can't recall off hand. Drmick 12:39, 29 September 2009 (EDT)

Fecking Office Picture Manager fecks up the compression stuff!
Drmick 12:36, 30 September 2009 (EDT)
- Yeah, images can't be that big. They really, really can't. If you are incapable of uploading smaller images, I would suggest not uploading them. We do so so much money on bandwidth, dude, and that's money we gotta pay. Furthermore, large files can muck up our auto-backup systems. It's just not a good idea. --ItsWalky 13:21, 30 September 2009 (EDT)
- And it makes the site Dial-up friendlier!--Hida Atarasi 13:51, 30 September 2009 (EDT)
- Not strictly, no. The images you see inlined on the pages aren't thumbnails, but images scaled at that size. Separate files from the ones we upload. You could click through that scaled-down image to get to the bigger one, but if you're on dialup and you do that, it's your own fault. :) --ItsWalky 14:05, 30 September 2009 (EDT)

- "Fecking Office Picture Manager fecks up the compression stuff!": Irfanview. Yes I'm pimping this program yet again, but it's free and is totally wonderful at both resizing and compressing stuff small while keeping image quality looking good. It has some nice basic sharpen/color adjustment options and a built-in program for capturing from a scanner, too. --Jeysie 18:10, 30 September 2009 (EDT)

that I got into trouble for defending you and Shortpacked on TFW2005. I turned it off because there were a few shitheads the other day. Anonymous-disabling is kind of like shithead protection. Jolt
The Blu-Ray manages to show a pretty clear image of Jolt's robot mode just before he attaches his electro-whips. Should we use it as his main pic? Yeah, he's standing in front of Jetfire, but one can make him out pretty darn easily. And 1080p = clear big ass pic. --FFN 19:55, 24 October 2009 (EDT)
- On one hand, yeah, that's a nice clear picture of him, and probably the only one we get in the movie of his whole body unblurred. On the other, the current main image is, uh, more accurate? Sort of? I mean, it's not just hilarious, but it's generally true. Jolt is always just over somebody's shoulder. I enjoy that all of Jolt's images are out of focus or from under somebody's shoulder. I am not saying no. I'm saying why I like the current setup, but not that it can't change. --ItsWalky 20:41, 24 October 2009 (EDT)
- Funny part of that "best image we have of him" is if I didn't know what I was looking for I doubt I'd even notice his tangle of metal was meant to be something seperate from Jetfire's. I'm not really a hater of the movie look, but in situations like this it's like a ink-blot test trying to seperate what's him from what's jetfire. Atleast in the blury pics I can easily see what it is I'm not seeing clearly.--76.28.72.27 20:46, 24 October 2009 (EDT)
- Well, one thing you've imparted upon me over the years, Walky, is that sometimes it is best to effectively show the character's design rather than to maintain a joke or to convey characterisation, if a better image of the character exists (which is probably why we recently had the discussion over changing Brawl and Grimlock's main images). And yeah, I agree with you that Jolt is defined as "dude who turns up out of nowhere and cannot be seen clearly", but I think it's also pretty important to give our readers at least one good, clear image of him, because, fuck, even with this we're still sketchy on what he's supposed to look like.--FFN 03:26, 25 October 2009 (EDT)
- I think the image we have now as the mainpic is still clearer than the Blu-Ray shot..even if it is blurry because Jolt's in the background, you can see his design much better because he's not standing in front of anything. -Mazenoise 09:45, 25 October 2009 (EDT)

- Why? What exactly was so wrong about the British spelling that it needed to be changed? ---Blackout- 06:05, 21 November 2009 (EST)
- If you will read our Style Guide, you will note that there is a clause that states that we will use the form of English that the article has the strongest ties to. Shattered Glass stories are written by American dudes in an American form of English. So I changed it. Similarly, when I upload images of comic panels from Marvel UK books, I put the "u" in "colouring." I am merely being consistent. --ItsWalky 11:20, 21 November 2009 (EST)

Suggestion for a new project
Walky
I was going over a lot of popular pages and I noticed that we're missing quotes for numerous well known characters from multiple continuities. I thought we might set up a wiki project where we make a co-ordinated effort to add some. I could have a go myself, but for some it requires familiarity with media that I haven't seen. What do you think?
Ps If I crossed the line getting involved in that mignash thing, I'd like to apologise. I can see how I was probably sticking my nose in where its not wanted.
Best wishes
MichaelUser:Eire 20.02 Nov 24 09 (UTC)
- I'm of the mind that we shouldn't push quotes on sections or characters unless they're called for in some way, or if they actually add to the article. I don't want quotes for the sake of quotes-having. Other than that criteria, I don't mind quotes being added to pages. --ItsWalky 15:31, 24 November 2009 (EST)
