I think listing events almost 9 million years ago under "8 million years ago" is just going to be confusing. --Riptide (talk) 20:35, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

It's one of those things that I wasn't sure which side to come down on: like, yeah, it's closer to 9 million years, technically, but on the other hand it helps to cleanly delineate the "build up to war" and "all-out war" a little better and dividing what would otherwise be a morass of text in an already dense section.
