User talk:Nevermore/Sandbox/Romanization
Taking suggestions as for how to rework this article from the ground. Anything related to Engrish should be limited to a very short paragraph at most, linked to the main article.
This article should be about romanization in general, official romanization by Takara, unofficial romanization for names which were never officially romanized (some of which make sense, some of which don't, and some of which are subject to interpretation), conflicting official romanization (both of the "both make equally sense" variety and "one makes sense, the other doesn't"), and cases of "ignoring official romanizations because they are Engrish".There will still be overlaps with Engrish, but the emphasis here should be What is widely assumed to be the intention, not How the Japanese screwed this up.

- Wouldn't "real spelling → misromanisation" make more sense than the reverse at the bottom? (i.e., type "Blot → Butt", meaning "Blot was misrendered as Butt", rather than "Butt -- Blot") Mammalian Verisimilitude 19:22, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- That is one of the parts that's already in the "Engrish" article, so I'm not sure if it will stay here at all.--Nevermore 12:06, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
