Wildthunder is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
MEDIOCRE!

Act first, think later is how Wildthunder (ワイルドサンダー Wairudosandā) tackles any problem. Prone to rash action and getting ahead of himself, he's often saved by a combination of being a quick thinker on his hooves backed up by very acute senses, and just being bloody tough to stop. This impulsiveness is born of a desire to do good and bring peace to planet Beast, and he's a loyal friend, quick with a joke to raise spirits. Now serving as the Emperor of Stoll under King Elephan, he has become close friends with the gentle giant, who has been helping him work on his rash behavior.

In combat, his ramming attacks can be devastating, especially as each of his tusks are capable of putting holes in steel plates. He's strong enough to actually pull Elephan along with him, resulting in a crushing combo attack. His MVP Weapon, the Thunder Bar (サンダーバー Sandābā), can fire a high-voltage current that causes mechanisms to malfunction or lock up altogether.

Toys

Transformers: Beastformers

[edit]
  • Wildthunder (Beastformer, 1987)
  • ID number: 14
  • Pack: B
  • Accessories: Blade-weapon (usually)
Part of the first series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Wildthunder is a lavender anthropomorphic boar in dark blue robotic armor. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.
He usually comes with a bronze blade-weapon marked with the same ID number as on his back. However, Beastformers is notorious for toys coming with someone else's weapon; it's unclear if this was just originally poor QC, but in the sequel series, this semi-random weaponry was actually turned into a "gimmick".
The Hasbro Battle Beasts release of the figure can vary in the tone of the paint used on its armor, with some samples being a more desaturated and matte; it's uncertain if the Takara version has similar (minor) paint variation.
He was only available in the "B Pack" assortment (which was only printed on the shipping case), and came in a red-grid generic "Cybertron Beastformer" box. He came with a Transformers-style bio card with a painted character image on a red grid backdrop, though there was a chance his bio card would instead be replaced with the rare "Holography Mirror" hologram card featuring Platinum Tiger.

Merchandise

Meiji candy toys

[edit]
  • Ramune Beastformers Battle Card (1988)
    • Meiji ID number: 31
A gold-foil "Battle Card" of Wildthunder, featuring his original bio card's painted character art (seen at top), was available in randomly-packed sets of cards that came with ramune-flavored candy tablets. The back of the card features a severely truncated version of his post-Transformers "RPG" bio, with data for the game from the Meiji chocoball SD figures' packaging.

Notes

[edit]
  • As he was not sold in the post-Transformers sequel series and thus had no bio card, his "RPG"-era bio comes from the Hero Special 4: Beastformers mook. This bio gives him the nickname "Thunder" (サンダー Sandā), and notes he was born in the city of Stoll, which is in the country of Stoll.
