After a battle where the Autobots were victorious over the Decepticons, Spike Witwicky was ruthlessly teased about his yellow boots by a US Army General. Seconds later, the General was vaporized by invading Martians.

Later, during the ensuing battle between Martians and Transformers, Spike was surrounded by Martians, who complimented him on his stylish form of dress but threatened to kill him anyway. A live electrical wire landed in the puddle of water they were all standing in. Spike was saved by his yellow boots, but the Martians were electrocuted, indicating that their yellow boots must not have been made of rubber.
