Galoob is a subsidiary of Hasbro which originally was its own company. In its independent days, Galoob created the wildly-successful Micro Machines, a toyline that influenced Transformers more than once: Attempting to capitalize on the "micro toys" craze, Hasbro produced Micromasters in 1988 and the short-lived MicroVerse in 1997. Hasbro bought Galoob in 1998, at which time it was the third-largest toy company in the United States.

Hasbro's Titanium Series toyline is a subdivision of Micro Machines, and the Titanium packages bear both the Hasbro and Galoob logos.

Notes

[edit]
  • When Transformers debuted in 1984, Galoob also rolled out Sweet Secrets, a line of jewelry, makeup and other fashion accessories that transformed converted into animals, girls with combable hair, and playsets.[1] But now, under Play Along Toys, the Sweet Secrets accessories just open into playsets for tiny dolls.[2] What a waste.
  • Galoob later created their own robot toyline called the ZBots, a series of roughly 1 1/2 inch tall robots. The story involved a battle between the heroic ZBots and the evil Voids. Some of the later toys had rudimentary transformations between vehicles, and others formed three-member combining teams. There was also a Burger King promotion!
