One of several nostalgia-heavy sub-lines released by Takara in the early 2000s, 2003's Smallest Transforming Transformers (極小変形 トランスフォーマー Kyokushō Henkei Transformers), erroneously called "World's Smallest Transformers" or "WSTFs" by fans, is pretty much exactly what the title says: they're (some of) the smallest transforming Transformers toys ever made.

Smallest Transforming Transformers (極小変形 トランスフォーマー "Kyokushō Henkei Transformers"), erroneously called "World's Smallest Transformers" or "WSTFs" by fans, was a line created by Takara in 2003. It consisted of Generation 1 characters in the smallest transformable form possible. The figures were blindpacked.
Each toy is based on an original "Generation 1" figure, but significantly downscaled and simplified. Most figures are barely 2 inches tall in robot mode, while some get as short as one inch (and smaller!). As such, care should be taken when transforming them, as even with fewer moving parts, their small size means smaller, more fragile joints.

Don't ever speak to me or my son again. (STT Convoy on the left, obs.)

Releases

[edit]

For their normal releases, the figures were blindpacked in boxes, with a few rare "chase figures" in some cases. Unfortunately, at this moment we do not have case ratios for this line.

    Unreleased and miscellaneous

    [edit]
    • The Jaguar (Ravage) that comes with Soundwave may very well be the actual smallest functioning Transformers toy made, being about the size of a pinky fingernail. That's tiny!
    • Hot Rodimus was later re-released in new packaging as a Toys"R"Us exclusive with purchases of Hybrid Style THS-02 Convoy.
    • Trade show images originally suggested a third wave of Smallest Transforming Transformers, which would have added the then-unreleased Hot Rodimus, as well as still-unreleased versions of Skids, Tracks, and Megatron's stock and silencer accessories. Skids and Tracks were reportedly unproduced for cost reasons.[1]
    • Only the items listed here are official Smallest Transforming Transformers toys. Multiple fan-groups have produced similar-scaled items based on old Transformers toys, but they are all unlicensed, unofficial product.
