Volcanicus and Computron unfortunately don't fare well, as Computron's transfer of his intelligence to the other combiner has removed their respective and unique abilities of beastly battlelust and super-computation. Megatron tries to rein in his former underlings, but Hun-Gurrr pays little attention as he consumes a Smashdown and a Soundbarrier. - "The Road to Legends' Revival Chapter 3" previously established that the Terrorcons were Quintesson creations in Japanese continuity, retroactively providing them with an origin more than three decades after their debut.
Transformers references
[edit]- Rippersnapper uses the "Angolmois Ball" (アンゴルモアボール) attack, which would later be used by Magnaboss in Beast Wars II.
- The Energon Matrix that Cutthroat has stolen is visually based on the Terrorcon Enigma available with the Power of the Primes version of Hun-Gurrr.
- Blot's new ability is to secrete oil containing anti-electrons, a substance that played a key role in the same episode that the Terrorcons first appeared in.
- Sinnertwin refers to the Transformer afterlife, the Allspark.
- Sinnertwin calls himself the "Watchdog of Hell" (地獄の番犬 Jigoku no Banken), referring to the belief that his alternate mode is actually that of an Orthrus, a mythological two-headed dog related to Cerberus, traditional guardian of the Greek underworld.
- Hun-Gurrr uses his rejected base mode.
- Continuing with War for Cybertron Trilogy toys making their character debuts in Japanese continuity, this story adds the remaining Powerdashers Aragon and Cromar to the mix, as well as Rotorstorm the Turbomaster, none of whom were released in Japan. Meanwhile, Ricochet's Generations Selects toy was not released in Japan, though the character debuted in Japanese media. Finally, Hot Rod's "Rodimus Unicronus" form is new to Japanese continuity, though the figure was released in 2018 by TakaraTomy.
- The panel where Spike gets shot by the Quintesson Judge is visually similar to scene where Smokescreen gets shot by the Requiem Blaster in the Armada episode "Sacrifice". Whether this was intentional or just pure coincidence is unknown.
Other notes
[edit]- Blot makes a terrible pun with his Japanese name: ブットばす, a homophone of ぶっ飛ばす (buttobasu), meaning "to send flying".
- While the last few releases in the Generations Selects Special Comic line have been split into shorter chapters published two at a time, this issue is instead a single double-length chapter.
