If there's one thing the kids love more than Power Rangers, it's evil Power Rangers.

The New Primus Vanguard (新プライマスヴァンガード Shin Puraimasu Vangādo) is made up of the "Megatrons of the Seven Colors" (七色の破壊大帝 (メガトロン) Nanairo no Megatoron, lit. "Emperors of Destruction of the Seven Colors")[1] and are perhaps the most dire threat the Precursor World has ever faced. Created by the monstrously powerful Gold Megatron via the full might of the Silver Matrix as doppelgangers of the Primus Vanguard twisted into his own image, they are monuments to the would-be god's hubris.

[edit]

Following his absorption of the Golden Power from Golden Age's envoy, Gold Megatron created the New Primus Vanguard using the Silver Matrix. Purple Megatron immediately engaged Purple Wicked Convoy in a duel for the Purple name, while the Black and Red Megatrons shot down Hun-Gurrr before being blasted by Scramble 7.

Meanwhile, Blue Megatron grabbed the other Silver Matrix, using his head-swapping abilities to trick the Straxus twins into thinking he was the dead Brightes. Shortly after, Green Megatron would become possessed by the time-travelling spark of the Megatron from the year 2050, who grappled with his past self. The Yellow and White Megatrons blasted Gold Primus Convoy, turning him back into Star Convoy. This wouldn't be enough to stop him, and he soon returned to the G1 World with Primus and the depowered Galvatron. Finale

Notes

[edit]
  • We don't see what happens to the Megatrons after Optimus and company leave the Precursor World, but it's presumably safe to assume that the heroic Megatron and the remaining warriors present dealt with them.
  • Only Purple, Blue and Green Megatron are explicitly named in the script but the pattern is difficult to miss.
  • Similarly to their counterparts in the heroic Primus Vanguard, the Megatrons all have a written kanji title customized with an arbitrary pronunciation. Similar to the Vanguard's use of "Convoy" for the meaning "Commander" (司令官, usually read as shireikan), they are all share the title "Megatron" for the meaning "Emperor of Destruction" (破壊大帝, usually read as hakai taitei).
  • It's likely the Megatrons hold sway over their respective hues of Star Power like their corresponding Vanguard commanders but this is never quite stated outright.

[edit]
  1. Precursor World fiction frequently utilizes an elaborate form of Japanese wordplay to impart characters with a sort of "B-side" moniker. In this case the title "Emperor of Destruction" is read as the name "Megatron." See the Japanese language article for further details on how this works.
