:Only 50kb more than the limit for still images. I mean- I don't disagree... I guess the question is whether it's worth the tradeoff for the pretty. You could get a still for 50kb, a quarter of that. It's... well, it's a bit hefty on the loadtime, no?--RosicrucianTalk 15:53, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Only 50kb more than the limit for still images. I mean- I don't disagree... I guess the question is whether it's worth the tradeoff for the pretty. You could get a still for 50kb, a quarter of that. (And how much consideration youw ant to have for the ever-shrinking base of modem users, I suppose.)
- I got the Spark animation down to 50KB, but this seems to loose any meaningful detail when you drop that much size.
- Hh. Maybe I'll try dropping a few frames... if I can slim it by a good chunk it'd be worth retaining. -Derik 16:02, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

- Colors, plus masking to control where dithering occurs. (The white background is also to reduce file size.)
- Dropping every other frame and then manually eliminating colors one by one seem to have been the magic combination- it cut 60% off the file size to a fairly respectable 108kb. -Derik 16:18, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
