Razorclaw (SG)

Razorclaw is a heroic Decepticon Predacon from the Shattered Glass continuity family.

It's totally cool with me if you don't know who I am.

Formerly a science professor at Tyrest University, Razorclaw was forced to flee into the Manganese Mountains with two of his students, Divebomb and Rampage, when the evil Autobots destroyed the campus. Known for unconventional thinking, he patiently retaught himself and his Predacon refugees to be the ultimate hunters. Though eventually stories were told of the beastly shadows that haunted the Manganese Mountains, that did not stop a few curious Transformers from seeking out Razorclaw's legendary wisdom. Though Razorclaw is now a creature of violence, he welcomes all who approach seeking knowledge.

Shattered Expectations

A shrink ray was used on the Predacons at one point.

Razorclaw, along with Starscream, intercepted Goldbug's villainous Autobots when they infiltrated a Pretender facility. After Jazz noted that the shrink ray hadn't destroyed the Predacons, Goldbug sent Grimlock at them. Razorclaw was able to call in the Mayhem Suppression Squad for backup. Shattered Expectations

Razorclaw and his fellow Predacons were first seen in the Decepticons' Polyhex war room, where the Decepticons were orchestrating their attack on the Ark. Razorclaw warned that their targets would be heavily guarded, prompting Starscream to suggest using Cliffjumper's glass gas against the enemy's armaments.

At sundown, the Decepticons attacked. Razorclaw and Rampage took out the hapless guards, allowing the Decepticons' air forces to drop glass gas bombs on the front lines. As Megatron ordered the rest of the Decepticons to attack, Razorclaw and the other Predacons countered the dimwitted Grimlock. Shattered Glass

When Ricochet kidnapped Megatron on the eve of the Ark's second launch, Razorclaw and the Predacons joined Whisper on the rescue mission. After Whisper's talent for chaos and noise got them past Ricochet's guard posts, the Micromasters split up to locate Megatron in the bowels of the Underbase's former home. Razorclaw found him first, just as Optimus Prime arrived on the scene to take credit for his lackey's work. Razorclaw feinted an attack on Prime, which the evil overlord easily dodged, allowing the Predacon to snare his real target: the release lever which activated Ricochet's death-trap. With Megatron on the verge of freeing himself, Optimus turned towards his eternal nemesis long enough for Razorclaw to attack again...and this was no longer a feint. Razorclaw's bite delayed Prime long enough for the rest of the Predacons to arrive, and the Micromasters soon escaped with Megatron. Do Over

• Shattered Glass (BotCon box set, 2008)

Part of BotCon 2008's exclusive box set of figures, Razorclaw is a redeco of Classics Overbite, transforming into a robotic wolf. As a Mini-Con mold, he has a Powerlinx socket on each hip, allowing him to attach to larger toys with Powerlinx pegs.

Razorclaw was only available as part a BotCon 2008 exclusive box set, along with Shattered Glass iterations of Optimus Prime, Grimlock, Goldbug, Autobot Jazz, and Starscream.

Notes

• Razorclaw and his fellow Predacons are drawn inconsistently in size. Early in their "Shattered Glass" appearance, they look no shorter than the other Decepticons, but during the attack on the Ark, they are tiny.
• Razorclaw's bio art features a wolf-Razorclaw insignia on his helmet, an adaptation of the lion-symbol as seen in IDW Publishing's Beast Wars: The Gathering comic.
