The robot-trap is a type of snare from The Transformers Adventure Game Books portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Consisting of a tangle of cables attached to a generator, the robot-trap is capable of disabling the average Transformer by overloading their systems with electricity. Because of the high voltages involved, it is deadly to (uninsulated) humans.

On the island of Nali, Beachcomber fell prey to a robot-trap set by Dirge to protect his volcano-tapping energy-production operation. Fortunately you were on hand to rescue him with a piece of driftwood. Island of Fear

Due to "Island of Fear" being a multipath adventure, you are twice as likely to die in agony while attempting to rescue Beachcomber from the robot-trap. It's a tough world out there.
