Sentinel Maximus, Vector Prime and Safeguard travelled to Reserves Control because the latter suspected Ramjet and co. would go there for energy to strengthen the black hole. That assumption was incorrect, and also lacked the part of Thunderclash guiding Dark Scorponok to Reserves Control to distract the three. Safeguard spotted the zombie at the entrance and warned his allies inside, who chose to let Sentinel Maximus fight the creature Balancing Act, Part 3 while Vector Prime would search for a way to bring the facility's autoguns online. Sentinel Maximus was nearly killed when he was injected with mech-venom, but a secret ally brought the autoguns online in time to save him. Just a moment later, Vector Prime received an emergency call from Downshift in the Spark Core Access Tunnels, stating the Heralds were trying to get to Cybertron's core. The three left Reserves Control immediately to protect the Heralds' true goal: Primus. Balancing Act, Part 4
