:I move for Golden Disk (Vok), it's a nice simple markup that lets os diffirentiate between the 6 or 7 Golden Disks in TF.  Alongside Golden Disk (Council), Golden Disk (Ancient) and Golden Disk (Paradron).  (Yes, Dreamwave had THREE of them, not counting the Voyager disks!) -[[User:Derik|Derik]] 00:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Revision as of 03:37, 7 May 2007

"Alien Disk" seems like a vague and somehow dismissive title. Is there any reason not to change this to "Golden Disk (Vok)" and make the other, "Golden Disk (Voyager)" or "Golden Disk (Human)" or something? - Jackpot 23:32, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

I think Alien Disk is fine. It's what the show calls it. And what I call it, and I am God. So. --ItsWalky 00:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Even though it was called that in the show, for the purposes of this wiki it just seems too non-descriptive. "Alien"? Who the hell ISN'T an alien in the TFverse? And "disk" by itself could also mean one of those superhumanly powerful 3.5" floppies. "Golden Disk," however, gives a more immediate recognition factor and provides a useful tie to its Voyager counterpart. - Jackpot 00:43, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Was the Alien Disk ever called a Golden Disk on the show? I thought it was just "Golden Disk" for the Voyager probe disc and "Alien Disk" for the one found in the volcano. That was how they were distinguished by name, IIRC. --ItsWalky 01:52, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
To be honest, I don't recall it ever being called anything. I know the Voyager disk was called the "Golden Disk," but then again, most of the time it was the ONLY disk. I want to say the pluralized term "Golden Disks" was used at SOME point, but I'd be hard-pressed to find where. Edit: Ah, here's something. Check out the second-to-last line of page two. Oo, and in this one, toward the bottom of page three. It's not dialogue, but neither is "MetalHunter." - Jackpot 03:19, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I thought it was 5 1/4" floppies.--FortMax 02:10, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
I move for Golden Disk (Vok), it's a nice simple markup that lets os diffirentiate between the 6 or 7 Golden Disks in TF. Alongside Golden Disk (Council), Golden Disk (Ancient) and Golden Disk (Paradron). (Yes, Dreamwave had THREE of them, not counting the Voyager disks!) -Derik 00:06, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, Derik. I'd forgotten about the DW disks. - Jackpot 00:43, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
They're nicely symbolic of DW's absolute lack of restraint. 3 different writers each created one, all unrelated tot he two in BEast Wars. -Derik 00:57, 7 May 2007 (UTC)

Alternately, can we have a Golden Disks category?  ;) -Derik 00:11, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
