Upon discovering the Galax plant from planet Parvus is still being housed in the academy's quarantine, Medix sets about finding the plant a new home.
Synopsis
The Sigma arrives back at the academy and the recruits disembark, having returned from a mission to retrieve soil samples from dwarf planets Pluto, Eris and Sedna. They excitedly compare the samples and retire to the lab, where Boulder reminds them not to open the samples as they need to be quarantined. He has them take the samples through decontamination to the quarantine area, where Medix is horrified by the careless manner in which his fellow recruits are attempting to store the samples. As the other leave, Medix stays behind to sort the catalog alphabetically and stumbles on the Galax, which has spent the last year stuck in the one room. After checking for any harmful bacteria, Medix decides to take the plant and plant it in the garden. He quickly finds it doesn't like being watered but otherwise seems happy with its new location.
The next morning, Medix finds that the Galax is now massive and has tendrils spreading all over the garden. Meanwhile Hoist and Boulder are testing soil samples to see any of the dwarf planets could support life when their work is interrupted by the alarm. They find Wedge, Hot Shot and Whirl already assembled—the academy's sensors have detected an earthquake located under the garden. As they haven't felt anything, Boulder sets about recalibrating the sensors while the other recruits investigate the garden. They soon find Medix and the newly-overgrown Galax, and are forced to convince Medix that the garden isn't a suitable place for the plant to grow. When Hot Shot "saves" Medix from one of the Galax's vines, the plant becomes hostile and starts spitting goo at the recruits.
Once Medix shares that the Galax doesn't like water, they turn the sprinklers on and start soaking the plant. This successfully shrinks the Galax back to its original size, and Medix is able to pluck it out of the ground. Though Boulder tells Medix it was not a good idea to try to introduce the Galax to Earth, he reveals their tests have found that Sedna would be an appropriate location for the Galax to grow, and Medix uses the space bridge to take it to its new home.
