Magna Convoy fights Straxus for the Matrix Sword.

Synopsis

Standing before the statues of his predecessors at the Ivory Towers, Magna Convoy of the Blue Order reflects on how the sight of the Matrix Sword once used to fill him with pride and courage. He does not understand why he was chosen to succeed them, but for now, the only thing that matters is retrieving the sword. He attacks Darkmount with vengeful fury, making Wingstun's day even worse (he already has to deal with two experiments escaping!) before using his shield to penetrate the fortress. Within, he is faced with Straxus, who mocks the sight of the blue corps emblem on the shield.

Magna Convoy recalls how Straxus betrayed and slaughtered the Blue Order and stole the Matrix Sword: that was the moment when his emotion program activated... and the first emotion he felt was rage. He swears he'll kill the traitor and unleashes an indiscriminate barrage on the entire area by attaching his guns to a spinning shield lob, an attack Straxus finds naive until he sees Convoy using the bodies of Wingstun and Air Hunter to shield himself. Amused by this dirty trick, Straxus notes that Convoy has abandoned the noble philosophy of the Blue Order, something Convoy doesn't deny. Their battle collapses the floor and they find themselves in a lab where the Matrix Sword is held, though Straxus warns him that the weapon is of no use anymore. Believing the power of courage makes the sword unbreakable, Convoy takes it and attacks Straxus, only for the blade to shatter!

A second Straxus, whose disembodied head is held in a machine as a result of his experiments' escape, mocks Magna Convoy for wielding a dead man's weapon for revenge and refers to him as "MC11". Straxus and Rollermaster swiftly defeat him, but before they can finish him off, the remains of the Matrix Sword glow and Convoy is teleported away by a glowing starship. Head-Straxus isn't too bothered, believing he's taken all he can get from the sword and that Convoy no longer has the will to fight, but the other Straxus is uninterested in his experiments and is determined to kill Convoy. Meanwhile, Magna Convoy is deposited somewhere else by his savior, who reveals himself to be the spectral form of the Blue Order's deceased leader, his spark having remained in the Matrix Sword. Before he fades away, his power exhausted, he tells Convoy of a young Transformer cloned from his spark energy by Straxus. His final command to Convoy—his "blue order"—is to guide this developing warrior on his journey. Magna Convoy then passes out, but is soon awoken by the very warrior his commander spoke of—Convobat.

Continuity notes

• Soundwave previously appeared in Convobat's prequel story. During that story, Convobat and Megalligator escaped, an event that Wingstun references.
• The full-bodied Straxus is colored to look like his Hasbro Generations toy, whereas the Straxus who appeared in the Convobat prequel was colored to look like the TakaraTomy United version. The implication, then, would appear to be that the disembodied-head Straxus seen in this comic is the United-colored Straxus from the Convobat prequel, who has been reduced to a head by the damage caused by Megalligator exploding a Transtector in his face at the end of that story.

Transformers references

• The Blue Corps holograms on the first page have the shapes of Generation 1 Skids, Prime Hot Shot, Generation 1 Frenzy, Legends Brainstorm, and a virtual redeco of Titans Return Black Shadow into Dai Atlas holding a Great Sword. Meanwhile, the statue in the center is the unreleased "Giant Robo G-1" from Microman.<ref>Fan analysis by by @tagoal on Twitter, 21 December 2016</ref> Their nature and membership in the corps would later be confirmed in the Generations Selects comic. Dai Atlas here was actually a sneak peek to the upcoming Legends toy, hence the hologram still looking like the original Sky Shadow version of the mold.
  • The statue, meanwhile, would be revealed as The One in the finale of Generations Selects.
• The disembodied Straxus head is a reference to the Marvel UK stories, which saw Straxus's head put in a life-support pod after he survived his initial "death".
• The Blue Order leader is a repurposing of Blue Big Convoy, a prize redeco version of Big Convoy from the Beast Wars Neo toyline which has never featured in fiction before. Eventually, Blue Big Convoy would go on to receive a dedicated re-release in the Legends toyline.
• His ship is a "virtual redeco" of the Titans Return Sentinel Prime/Astrotrain in the colors of Energon Omega Sentinel.
  • The ship would later be confirmed to be Omega Sentinel, himself a Blue Order member, via his appearance with the rest of the corps in Generations Selects.
• A depiction of a blue version of Big Convoy's Energon Matrix is visible ensconced in the ceiling of the room holding the Matrix Sword as Magna Convoy falls through it.
  • This would be confirmed to represent the Blue Order's α Matrix in Blue Big Convoy's own comic.
