Notes
* The Hasbro release of this toy was similarly (eventually) available with both styles of rubsign. It was not packed in with the Hasbro version of the Wood Beetle; while the toy did come with a Battle Beast, it was a randomly-selected one.
* Wavemoose's 1988-series bio card gives him the nickname "Waver" (ウェーバー Wēbā), a name that would later be used for the Multiforce Autobot Waver.

Wavemoose is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
HEY ROCKY!

Wavemoose (ウェーブムース Wēbumūsu) doesn't like conflict. A mellow and happy-go-lucky sort, he'd be perfectly happy taking strolls on the island of Ellas where he reigns as King, and is very content to let people do as they please provided it's not hurting others. It's a philosophy borne out by his trust in his subordinate Emperor, Brown Gyro, who was originally a member of the Decepticon-backed insurgency to take over planet Beast.

Though he will fight, he will not kill. His power is sound, and he uses it to powerful yet nonlethal effect. He can hear wavelengths from 5,000 to 10,000 hertz, letting him track his quarry with ease. His Wave Mooser (ウェーブムーサー Wēb Mūsā) MVP Weapon uses sonic waves to weaken an enemy, sapping their energy and softening up their armor. It can even give solid rock the consistency of... well, mousse.

Transformers: Beastformers

Yes, this is an actual Takara Wavemoose, not the Battle Beast release. You can tell by... us telling you.
  • Wavemoose (Beastformer, 1987)
    • Beast ID number: 33
    • Accessories: Pointy-thing weapon
Released in the second series of Takara's Transformers-branded Beastformers assortment, Wavemoose is an anthropomorphic moose wearing high-tech light-blue armor. He has a rubsign on his chest, revealing the elemental power of Fire, Wood, or Water.
As he was only released in the second series, he has two different styles of Beastformer bio card: the initial card has a painted portrait on a wooded backdrop, while his "series 3" release replaces the art with the comic-style image used on the Hasbro Battle Beasts checklist-poster (which also incorrectly shows him with Sea Iron's weapon). Depending on what "Pack" box he came in, there was a chance of his bio card being replaced with a rare "Secret Photo", "Bewitching Serpent Seal", or "VS Holography Mirror" card.

Beastformers

  • Wood Beetle (Battle Base, 1988)
    • Beast ID number: 33
    • Accessories: "Wave Mooser" MVP Weapon
Wavemoose was also packed in with the Wood Beetle Battle Base in the Transformers-less Beastformers sequel series. He is physically unchanged from his prior release, but he comes with a new, more filled-out bio card that's been recolored and partially re-drawn to give him his correct weapon. This new card also gave said weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Wave Mooser".
It is possible/probable, but unconfirmed, that this was the only way Wavemoose was released in this version of Beastformers.
Later in this line's run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)

Notes

  • Wavemoose's 1988-series bio card gives him the nickname "Waver" (ウェーバー Wēbā), a name that would later be used for the Multiforce Autobot Waver.
