Mingo Kid is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Mingo Kid (ミンゴーキッド Mingōkiddo), also known as Flan (フラン Furan), is one of the Autobot-allied Beastformers fighting a war on the planet Beast. His role in the Autobot Beastformer forces is commander of the Air Combat Unit. He also holds the rank of Emperor of Hilles, the island where he was born, under King Būpink. Having grown in up the home of an artist, Mingo Kid has mastered many forms of art, including painting, sculpturing and expressive dance, and his avant-garde creations are known across all of Beast. His Performancer MVP Weapon lets him disassemble anything into small, bead-like objects that he can then rebuild into either the original object or something else entirely.

Part of the third series of Takara's Beastformers toys, Mingo Kid is an anthropomorphic flamingo in blue robotic armor. The rubsign on his chest reveals one of three symbols; Fire, Water or Wood.

He came in a green-grid generic "Cybertron Beastformer" box, with a bio card with a line-art character image first used in Hasbro's Battle Beasts cast poster (rather than the painted images of the prior two series). Depending on the "Pack" he came in, there was a chance of his bio card being replaced with a rare "Secret Photo", "Bewitching Serpent Seal", or "VS Holography Mirror" card.

The first Beastformers multipack (still using the Transformers logo and factions) contained nine normal figures, then one of two special editions of the faction leaders, either a clear-plastic version of Alligatron, or White Leo with the "Burstsun" rubsign. The box contained no windows, so you didn't know which of the leaders you got until you opened it up.

The other nine standard Beastformers in the set were Black Jaguar, Būpink, Crowmax, Dog Hunter, Dream Eater, Earthhog, Mingo Kid, Muskhorn, and Slo.

Re-released in the Transformers-less Beastformers sequel series, Mingo Kid was given a straight re-release with new packaging and a new, more filled-out bio card with corrected coloring. This new card also gave his weapon, now branded an "MVP Weapon", the name "Performancer" (パフォーマンサー Pafōmansā).

The initial early releases of this series had the chance for any Beastformer to have the rare Burstsun symbol; we'll probably never know if Mingo Kid was ever actually one of them. Later in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)
