Soaring was a paramedic who worked for the medical examiner Backburner. He was a notable victim of the Rust Plague, which caused the Age of Rust.

The Rust Plague had quickly spread to the entire crew of a lost cargo ship. All scientific attempts to slow down the Plague failed, and the scientist Technatron recommended all infected worlds be destroyed. Around this time, the medical examiner Backburner and his paramedic Soaring entered another infected vessel, documenting its effect on the ship and its victims. While on the ship, they documented several rooms with corroded structures, tools that crumbled to dust, red dust in the air, and shapeless lumps that were once the crew.
