Humans say you are what you eat. Devastator takes this to the extreme with his Vortex Grinder.<ref>Devastator's Battle Bio at Hasbro.com</ref> Using an artificial black hole, Devastator can suck in nearby objects. Once they reach his plasma core, they are broken down by the extreme temperatures and turned into molten stew. All useful materials are absorbed and the rest are expelled from his back.<ref>Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: The Movie Universe</ref>
This happens to include living beings be they organic or Autobot.

Fiction
Revenge of the Fallen film
Once the Constructicons had finished combining in a quarry near the Great Pyramid of Giza Devastator activated his Vortex Grinder and began sucking in all nearby objects including cars, livestock, and hapless bystanders. Seymour Simmons was nearly sucked in but saved by Leo Spitz. The Autobot Mudflap was less fortunate and pulled into the gaping maw. This caused Devastator to deactivate the Vortex Grinder long enough for the humans and surviving Autobot Skids to make a mad dash under Devastator as it was the only safe place. They also got a little extra time when Mudflap burst out of Devastator's head alive and well.
Once they had successfully managed to reach the top of the Great Pyramid, Devastator again activated his Vortex Grinder and began absorbing the rocks that encased the Star Harvester that the Decepticons were trying to activate. Devastator had resorted to his fists by the time the U.S.S. Kidd fired her experimental railgun, destroying Devastator. Revenge of the Fallen
Age of Extinction film
Galvatron had a smaller Vortex Grinder in his chest. Joshua Joyce hated it, but Gill Wembley thought it looked "badass".
During a duel with Optimus Prime, Galvatron used the Grinder to destroy Prime's sword when he attempted to stab the villain, revealing that he had no "soul" and thus, no fear. Age of Extinction
TransTech
When the OZSA found their way into Sideways's hideout blocked by an Absolute Terror Field, Commander Cheetor sought permission from the High Senate to use a Vortex Grinder, with Rook looking into legal precedent for such action. The High Senate's authorization bill turned out to be unnecessary, however, as the field came down on its own when Sideways's head suddenly exploded. Rook - Axiom Nexus News: Investigative Journalist

Autobot Campaign
While pursuing the Autobots in Cairo, Devastator employed his Vortex Grinder to try to suck them up. It seemed oddly ineffective against NEST tanks and any Combaticons who wandered into its path. Revenge of the Fallen (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)

Devastator's Demise online game
Devastator regularly tried to suck the Autobots into his Vortex Grinder, and they had to drive really fast to get away. Transformers RPMs: Devastator's Demise
