  • Shield-D-Prime (シールドディープライム)
Announced as the flagship release in TakaraTomy's Collaborative-adjacent licensed crossover line Synergenex, "Shield-D-Prime" combines T-SPARK's three pillar brands of Transformers, Zoids, and Diaclone. This exotic variant of Optimus Prime turns into a 1/60 scale iteration of Zoids mascot Shield Liger, and includes a working cockpit for the included duo of dianaut pilots with light-up features and a motorized jaw gimmick in classic Zoids style powered by a pair of AA batteries. Accessories include a Freezon-infused variant of Optimus's signature ion blaster, a secondary "bullet core" modular cockpit cross-compatible with swathes of the Diaclone toyline, a "triple shock cannon" intended for the liger's chest and a "twin FZ blaster" that lives on the tip of the tail. All of which can be cobbled together with the figure's removable back armor and tail to create a "Beam Cannon Jet" or really any lump of guns that your heart desires via the figure's liberal use of a Transformers-style peg-and-port system. It bears remarking that the modern Diaclone toyline favors 3 and 4 mm connections so do not necessarily set your heart on compatibility with the 5 mm standard of your Generations collection. Last but not least the set includes an adorable teeny tiny "Road Viper" motorcycle for the dianauts that can store in the chest cavity of beast mode via an opening ramp.

Notes

  • Zoids began in 1982 and has continued after Tomy's 2006 merger with Takara. At the time of the above IDW comic story, Zoids was indeed in a dormant period, with Zoids: Wild not premiering until 2018.
  • The Animated Decepticon Megadeath is described as transforming into a "Guylos EX-038 Assault Craft" from the first Zoids anime.
  • Legacy toyline personnel Ben MacCrae and Mark Maher lampshaded the heavy Zoids influence that went into the beast mode of Legacy: United Thundertron by offering that the pirate had crash landed on the Zoid homeworld of Planet Zi and scanned one of the franchise's trademark ligers.[2]
