Optimus Prime Memorial is a statue from the animated portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Optimus Prime dies a lot. Taking that into consideration, there have been a number of memorials constructed to honor his memory. These memorials exist on a number of planets where his influence was felt the most.

Exactly what happens to these memorials when Prime inevitably returns to life is anybody's guess.

Generation 1 cartoon

Hey, aren't memorials for dead people?

In some American Earth city, television reporter Marty Minkler was interviewing Jazz and Cliffjumper at the unveiling ceremony for the Optimus Prime Memorial when Starscream and his newly recruited army of Combaticons attacked, taking the two Autobots prisoner. The statue was also damaged from Swindle's weapon fire (have the Combaticons no decency?!). Starscream's Brigade

Optimus Prime Memorial's construction in 1985 is possibly the result of its builders being able to see twenty years into the future and/or the writers trying to say, "Hey kids! Next year your hero will be killed and replaced by a turbo revvin' young punk turned turbo revvin' ADULT punk!"

After Optimus Prime was really dead, another memorial was constructed in his honor, this time within Autobot City on Earth. Rodimus Prime could be found moping about the statue, asking the stone representation of Prime why he kept seeing him in his dreams. The statue never responded, so far as we know. The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 1

The Headmasters comic

After Optimus Prime died for the third time, yet another memorial was built in his honor. This time, it was constructed on the Autobot base planet of Athenia. Depressingly, only Rodimus Prime, Chromedome, Hardhead, Brainstorm and Highbrow attended the unveiling of the statue. Likely, with this being the third statue unveiling, the ceremonies had probably grown dull and passe'. The Headmasters issue 1

Beast Machines cartoon

At some point following yet another death (one that seemed to stick, this time), a new memorial of Optimus Prime was constructed on planet Cybertron, outside the Cybertron Archives. Flaunting a Golden Disk in each hand, the statue was eventually shot down and destroyed by Vehicon drones. Fires of the Past
