The Transformers Classics UK Volume 1, published by IDW Publishing, is the first in a series of eight collections aiming to reprint the Marvel UK Transformers stories in order of publication, including the Annuals. In addition to simply reprinting the stories, numerous other pieces of both archival and original material are included: James Roberts provides an in-depth historical introduction to the volume over twenty pages in length, charting the development of the Marvel UK universe over the period of time the book's stories cover, as well as writing a two-to-three page introductory essay for every story that discusses its creation, chronological placement relative to the US stories, any reprintings it may have had, and even includes interview snippets with various creators. A gallery of every cover is included, even featuring the issues that reprinted US content, along with images of numerous free gifts and other featurettes from the comic, like fact files, contents pages, posters, competitions, and other special articles. New cover art is provided by Andrew Wildman.

Errors

• The add reprint on page 7 describes the toy shown as being "Bumble-Jumper" (sic), even though it is actually a yellow Cliffjumper (with Micro Change stickers, no less). The same errornous reference is made on page 19.
• Page 10 notes that the tagline "Warrior Robots in Disguise" was used on early toy packaging and merchandise, however the only instance this tagline was used in earnest outside the UK comic were the UK market pack-in toy catalogs. This might have been an intended tagline for the toyline, before the decision was made to go with that "More Than Meets The Eye" thing, and someone just forgot to tell the UK guys that...
