The live-action film series is an umbrella term that refers to the series of theatrical feature films directed by Michael Bay beginning in 2007, including the vast amount of ancillary fiction created for it.

The second film in the series, titled Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, was released on June 24, 2009. The third (and purportedly final) film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, was released on June 28, 2011.[1]

On February 13, 2012, it was announced Bay would direct a fourth film, due for release on June 29, 2014.[2] He stated, "Steven Spielberg and I are working on a whole new re imagining of Transformers, the fourth installment. We have been working on the idea for a few months."[3]
