The overshield is a protective device from the War for Cybertron portion of the Aligned continuity family
Overshields were an item used to soak up damage from firearms and other weaponry. The overshield would act as an augmentation to the user's Energon supplies, allowing them to take twice as much damage before going offline or being downed. An overshielded Transformer is surrounded by a glowing blue effect over their structure.
Fiction
During the War for Cybertron, Overshields were used in the many countless battles across the planet. They could be found floating, suspended by some unknown means, until a Transformer would pick them up and gain their special properties. During Optimus, Warpath, and Ironhide's mission to the core of Cybertron, the Decepticons had set a trap for the Autobots, disguising EMP grenades as Overshields! Warpath was very eager to take one, but Optimus warned him it may be a trap.
Notes
- Overshields are scattered all across the campaign in breakable crates, emblazoned with a "shield" icon. Also, you may sometimes find overshields in Escalation, and not have to buy them.
