The name or term "Sky Shadow" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Sky Shadow (disambiguation).
Sky Shadow is an Autobot from the Energon portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Sky Shadow is one of the five Air Team robots who make up the mighty super robot Superion Maximus. Did he know about his namesake from the legendary Beast Wars, or was this Sky Shadow, a warrior from times long past, himself the inspiration for the heroic Beast Warrior? The answer is lost to all outside the Allspark.

Japanese name: Sling

Sky Shadow is almost always shown only as a limb to Superion Maximus. He was shown as a separate jet once, but that was in a video game Hot Shot was playing.

Later, he was blown up in a fight with Bruticus Maximus. His scattered bits were not expected to recover. Spark

Sky Shadow shares a mold with his teammate Terradive, transforming into a red and black A-10 Thunderbolt. He can also form a leg or arm to any Energon-series "Powerlinx Combiner" super robot, though his nominal placement is as the right leg to Superion Maximus. He comes with a shield/double-blaster that can become a footplate or "hand" for his combined mode, plus a blue "super energon" Autobot-style energon chip.
This mold was also used to make Cybertron Skyfall.
  • Superion (Multi-pack, 2004)
Japanese ID number: SC-26
In Japan, Sky Shadow (aka "Sling") was only made available as part of a complete Superion gift set. The two version are largely identical, the main difference being that the Takara release uses a darker clear-blue for the "energon" bits than the Hasbro version.

Trivia

  • Sky Shadow is the only member of the Air Team who wasn't repackaged and re-released on a Universe card for discount-chain sale.
  • It has been suggested by fans that the name "Sky Shadow" would be better applied to his teammate Treadshot, whose coloration is much darker overall. Switching names would also give the nonsensical "Treadshot" meaning, as it would then be applied to an A-10, known colloquially as a "Tankbuster."
