- Royal Guards are members of Cobra-La from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Cobra-La's Royal Guards are genetically augmented super-soldiers charged with safe-keeping and serving their master, Golobulus. Though physically powerful, they don't do much in the way of thinking, relying nearly entirely on higher-ranking members of Cobra-La to direct them.
Fiction
G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers
Pythona, Nemesis Enforcer and Bludgeon were accompanied by several royal guards when they came upon Joe Colton and Chok-Pa in 1978. Black Horizon, Part 1 of 2 Decades later, Pythonia and Nemesis enforcer were once more accompanied by a small group of royal guards when they welcomed Doctor Mindbender into Cobra-La's ranks. G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers II #4

The Matrix-empowered Hawk experienced a vision of several Royal Guards standing alongside Nemesis Enforcer, Mindbender, and Unicron. The Art of War #5
When Optimus Prime, Hawk and Flint found their way into Cobra-La, a squad of royal guards rushed them, chanting their warcry... "COBRA LALALALALA!" With their ally Bludgeon taking on the Autobot, the royal guards tackled the Joes. Despite the guards' superior numbers and strength, the invaders still managed to scurry away. The guards continued their pursuit, Black Horizon, Part 1 of 2 eventually catching up to their prey... though now they had been joined by Joe Colton, who proceeded to beat them all single-handedly.
More royal guards were run down and beat down by Optimus Prime when he and the Joes ambushed Golobulus. Once the threat of Unicron and Cobra-La was neutralized, whatever guards remained were taken into custody. Black Horizon, Part 2 of 2
