The Shi-Lai are an infamous alien political entity spreading forth from the world of Shi-La. Ruled by a Blood Tyrant, boasting an army of Suicide Legions armed with death-bolters, and policed by relentless interstellar hounds, the Shi-Lai are probably not among the galaxy's best neighbors.

The Shi-Lai navy is noteworthy for consisting entirely of intelligent warships binary-bonded to their organic pilots. This bonding process is sufficiently unkind to the ship's AI as to be widely known as "slave-linking". Their ship types are named for bladed weapons, including the Broadsword-class interceptor/destroyer, Gladius-class dreadnoughts, and Falchion-class harrowers.

As it turned out, the Shi-Lai were more than a match for the old and outdated human ship and handed them an ass-kicking, intent on making sure they couldn't tell anyone about the violation, until they were driven off by the Cybertronian ship Rusty Mace.
