I am a big supporter of our humorous picture captions, so I'm surprised to be posting this, but I think the main one here *might* actually be a detriment. When the subject of a picture is obvious, which is most cases, the humerous captions are great, but the Quintesson faction symbol used for the main pic here is really pretty obscure. I can easily imagine someone comming across this page and not knowing what the heck that image is or where it comes from. Some sort of explanitory caption for that image would be rather useful I think. --[[User:ZacWilliam|ZacWilliam]] 12:08, 1 June 2007 (UTC)<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From [http://transformers.wikia.com Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki], a [http://www.wikia.com Wikia] wiki.</small></div>

I feel like there needs to be a Quintesson (faction) page in addition to a page discussing their race and their 120 body types. (I exaggerate... but not by much.) -Derik 07:12, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

I can get behind that, sort of. Well, I'd leave this as the Faction and then do a "Types of Quintessons" page or something similar. -hx 11:07, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

Honestly I think "types of quints" would probably make more sense just as a sub section here, so I started it as so, feel free to delete or move it if others feel otherwise. Question: The two pics I uploaded are refered to in the TFU entry as Guard and Gatekeepr, but I've seen them named elsewhere as Baliff and Executioner, but with no official source listed for thos tittles. Does anyone know if those are deffinately official and where they're from, off hand? --ZacWilliam 11:41, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

IIRC, the baliff designation comes from the 'The Ultimate Guide style' additions someone was making last year. Baliff isn't from the original TFU, and it's not from MtMtE, and I'm pretty sure it's not from TUG. So unless it's from, like, the original movie script of Dery's character models... it's probably not official. -Derik 11:50, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Also, I think you're in denial about the number of types of Quintessons there are. I'm pretty sure there's at least ten... -Derik 11:54, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I'm sure there are a ton more that I listed, I just did the immediately obvious ones to start. Yeah, Deary must have given them a TON of quint designs or just went back to the well almost every time the show called for quints, as there are a TON of variations. --ZacWilliam 12:02, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, I think "bailiff" and "executioner" were my doing. More suitable names for the types based on what they actually did in the movie, I thought. Didn't realise they'd, uh, sunk in like that. - (Chris McFeely, here, who can't seem to stay logged in for more than a page.)
McFeely! Just the man I wanted to pin to the wall!
Quint ships, quint body types... the original scripts... refered to how? -Derik 01:08, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
Holy thingie! IDW's new "The Ark" book uses my "Bailiff," "Executioner" and "Inquisitor" terms. Clearly someone was checking up on the Quints on Wikipedia... - Chris McFeely 19:15, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm torn between irritation- and elation that we'll have something official to call them.
At least they didn't steal from Wikipedia to canonize something wrong. -Derik 19:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm particularly happy to see that it's resulted in their using the right names for the Quintessons' faces, instead of the Ultimate Guide ones. - Chris McFeely 19:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
And these are?
And on the original subject... I'm really wary of splitting this page with a "types of Quintessons" other page. It seems... like an utterly unnecessary link-jump. "Types of Quints" would, I think, be best served as we have it now... and under each type, make sure to link to the named examples of said types, like Ghyrik and Sevax. Preferably in list form, methinks. --M Sipher 21:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
As mentioned in the article, they're the Faces of Death (skull-face, duh), Bitterness (fat-faced, turban-headed face), Doubt (spiky "old woman" face), Laughter (moustachioed starfish-head) and Rage (screaming, red-crested one). These were names given to the faces in a Comics Bom-Bom article (if memory serves?) based on the descriptions given for each of the faces in the script, which were, specifically, "smiling, angry, grimacing and suspicious." Not "War, Wrath, Judgement and Wisdom." - Chris McFeely 21:35, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Well, both face-name sets are official... and something we REALLY ought to have illustrated cleanly on this page. Have the full-on view of the face on the left, then the two type-names bullet-pointed to the right ...

  • Bitterness (Character model)
  • Wisdom (Ultimate Guide)

--M Sipher 22:43, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Mmn. I'd probably substitute the latter term for "Stupid made-up name Simon Furman pulled out of his butt because he didn't do enough research," but there we are. :) - Chris McFeely 22:52, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I'd actually reccomend sticking the Ultimate Guide names in a trivia note. They're so much... squishier than the Bon-bon terms. They don't mean anything. -Derik 23:04, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes. That. - Chris McFeely 23:13, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
I'd recommend not. Personal feelings aside, the UG names are far more visible and ARE official. This contradiction of sources is frankly better addressed right up front rather than shuffling it off to the side. --M Sipher 00:58, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I have to agree with Siph. Oh if only Furman didn't suck... --Rotty 01:03, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
UG names, with Bom-Bom explanations of their meanings? -Derik 05:42, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
...no, just list them both, as illustrated above, because they are both official names for the faces. Simple, clean, free of playing favorites, and not pointlessly confusing the issue. --M Sipher 07:42, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I'm with Siph here. Both names are equally official. Judgement calls over wich are more evocative comes down to personal taste. Equal weight for both works best. --ZacWilliam 10:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
