IDW Generation 1 continuity

Twenty thousand years ago, the 'bot who would become "Hound" was one of a number of Eukarians under the command the command of Domitius Major aboard the starship Axalon. Strange Visitors Sent on a deep-space mission by Onyx Prime to locate the Enigma of Combination, Centurion profile depleting fuel sources sent their vessel off-course in the hopes of finding new energon, and eventually they chanced across Ice Age Earth.

As they approached the planet, however, they attracted the attention of Shockwave, who had also come to Earth to investigate his Regenesis project. The Decepticon scientist shot down the Axalon, and, in the crash, the Talisman aboard their ship erased the memories of the crew. Centurion's subsequent amnesia inspired Shockwave to use the crew of the Axalon in a cruel experiment, altering their appearances and memories to convince them that they were the Autobots and Decepticons of Cybertron. Brainwashed into believing he was "Hound," he took part in the simulated "Ice Age Wars" on Earth as part of Shockwave's wargames. Eventually, the climate worsened and the energon stores ran out, and when Shockwave departed, the ersatz Autobots and Decepticons went into hibernation. Strange Visitors

After thousands of years of hibernation, "Hound" was one of the "Autobots" who awoke in 1887 when an Elder God threatened humanity. Adopting a caboose alternate mode, he formed a train with "Ratchet" and "Trailblazer" to carry Nikola Tesla and Tobias Muldoon to the still-dormant body of "Optimus Prime" — in reality, Domitius Major. Infestation 2: The Transformers #1 The Autobots sacrificed their electrical energy to a balloon to recharge their leader; when "Optimus Prime" awoke, he gave the trio energy from his energon reserves. The group arrived in Port Cenotaph to fight the Elder God possessed "Ironhide", and proved triumphant. Infestation 2: The Transformers #2

Sometime afterwards, "Hound" would eventually die. His shattered head wound up in the Tomb of Amtoltec where the Talisman was stored. The Secret of the Mummy's Tomb
