The name or term "Convoy" refers to more than one character or idea. For a list of other meanings, see Convoy (disambiguation).
Convoy is an Autobot from the IDW portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
No more truckin' through the night for you, mate.

One of the many load-bearing Point One Percenters that operated the Magnus Armor during the Great War, the reckless, hotheaded Convoy would briefly lend his... distinct personality to Ultra Magnus.

Fiction

IDW Generation 1 continuity

Chief Justice Tyrest chose Convoy to keep alive the legend of the immortal lawman Ultra Magnus, Duly Appointed Enforcer of the Tyrest Accord, The Sound of Breaking Glass taking over from an injured Minimus Ambus for about a century, despite Convoy's short temper and general prejudice against organics. Shining Armor #5

Some two hundred years ago, Ultra Magnus and Bumblebee were dispatched to the Zugzwang Cluster to investigate the disappearance of a Galactic Council delegate; tracking the wreckage to the planet Xetaxxis, they discovered that the Decepticons had formed an alliance with the alien Dire Wraiths to menace the Cybertronian orphan Stardrive. Shining Armor #2 The adventure would see the Autobots team up with Rom the Space Knight to prevent the Decepticons from stealing Stardrive's energon synthesizer. Shining Armor #3

As the battle reached its zenith, however, the Magnus Armor was targeted by Dire Wraith leader Vekktral for assimilation, briefly transforming the outer armor into a monstrous fused creature. Shining Armor #4 Realizing that there was no other way out, Convoy opened the Magnus Armor and shouted for Rom to kill him. Rom did so, ending the threat of the fusion for good.

Following Convoy's passing, Minimus Ambus donned the Magnus Armor once more and returned to active duty. Shining Armor #5

Notes

  • "Convoy" was Optimus Prime's Japanese name, which was derived from the name of the Diaclone toy on which he was based, "Battle Convoy". Ultra Magnus's toy, meanwhile, shares the same cab robot as Optimus Prime's, because the original Diaclone version of the Magnus toy was an upgraded version of "Battle Convoy" named "Powered Convoy". So this use of "Convoy" is a reference to like three things at once!
